Mona Zaki

Shahrazad’s tales unveils the agony of Egyptian women:
On the shores of Alexandria and for four days, the director Youssry Nasrallah began filming the first scenes of his new movie “Ehki Ya Shahrazad”, Nassrallah then headed to Cairo in order to finish shooting the remaining outdoor scenes in some of the capital’s neighborhoods as agreed upon with his cast, currently shooting is held in the streets of Al-Manial.
Nasrallah had held some intensive working sessions for the film written by the scenarist Wahid Hamed and stars Mona Zaki in her first appearance after an absence of two years following the screening of her last movie” Timour W Shafiqa” alongside Ahmed Al-Sakka..
“Ehki Ya Shahrazad” depicts the Egyptian society’s view of women in general, through the stories of some young people with a specific girl in the form of the earliest tales of the “Thousand and One Nights” but in a contemporary way.
It is noteworthy to mention the nomination of the singer Ruby to take part in the movie and the fact that she declined to participate despite the effectiveness of the role given to her. Ruby confirmed that she’s always wished to work with Mona Zaki, but found that the filming schedule would conflict with the shooting of the other movie she’s participating in already starring Mahmoud Yassine, Asser Yassine, Bassem Samra. Thus she preferred to decline the role so that she wouldn’t cause problems.
Mona Zaki said: “The movie is very interesting, its theme’s truly important and serious, and deals with the hard reality that women are subjected to, especially the illiterate, poor ones”.
“Ehki Ya Shahrazad” stars Mona Zaki, Mahmoud Hemeida, Hassan Al-Raddad and the Jordanian Saba Moubarak. The producing company has assigned a 7 million L.E budget for the movie.
