The Romantics


Clumsy camera work adds to the pre-wedding jitters in writer-director Galt Niederhoffer's pashmina-thin drama about attractive self-congratulatory Yale alumni gathering for the nuptials of two of their own. But oh, the irony! In The Romantics, Tom (Josh Duhamel) isn't marrying Laura (Katie Holmes), the heroine he really loves (even though Holmes is Dawson's Creek charming). Instead, he's pledged to rich, controlling Lila (Anna Paquin) — Laura's best friend. Awkward!
