LFO Former Lead Rich Chronin Dies of Cancer at 35

Former lead act Rich Cronin of the boyband LFO died last September 8, 2010 due to myelogenous leukemia which he battled for almost five years.

Only 35 years old, Cronin was a native of Massachusetts and was the one who wrote and sang the smash hit song ‘Summer Girls’. The song quickly climbed the Billboard Hot 100 chart and stayed in the top three spot for approximately six weeks over a decade ago. ‘Summer Girls’ was the song that popularized the infamous shout-out ‘girls that wear Abercrombie & Fitch’.

Three years after their hit single was released, LFO decided to disband. Last June 2009, however, the band announced that they decided to work together again. Unfortunately, this didn’t seem to work out for the trio once more as they had an immediate falling out three short months later.

Cronin first found out that he has leukemia last 2005. Since then, the singer aimed of informing the public about his disease, which he achieved by founding the Hope Foundation. This foundation centers in communicating to people the importance of bone marrow and blood donation to cancer patients.

A lot of Hollywood personalities, specifically former member of boy bands who knew Cronin grieved of his demise. Lance Bass of NSYNC posted on his tweeter that Cronin was an amazing guy while Chris Kirkpatrick, also of NYNC, posted on his Facebook how a great friend the singer is.
