Michael Douglas On Throat Cancer

Dealing with a hefty medical challenge, Michael Douglas pushed forth with promotional efforts for "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps" with a "Late Show with David Letterman" appearance on Tuesday (August 31).

Greeting fans as he entered the Ed Sullivan theatre, the 65-year-old actor opened up about his throat cancer diagnosis while telling Letterman that "it hurts a lot."

Offering up details on the situation, Douglas says that he was informed of the condition - which is labeled as Stage 4 cancer - following a doctor's appointment for an extremely sore throat.

Having just finished up with the first week of radiation and chemotherapy, Michael admits "that it's about an eight-week struggle."

Utilizing drugs to ease the pain, the big screen legend later replied to a comment from Dave about how good he looks, saying, "Let's just say I'm pretty lit up -- I'm pretty lit up right now."

On a positive note, Michael added that the cancer is yet to spread beneath the neck, which lands him at an eighty percent chance of recovery.
