Actor Bob Christo dies, aged 70

Bob Christo has died after a short illness, aged 70.

The veteran star, who gained fame playing negative roles in Hindi cinema during the eighties and nineties, suffered heart failure on Sunday, the Times of India reports.

"He was hospitalised after a massive heart attack on Saturday afternoon. He passed away today (Sunday)," said family friend and business partner Khaleem Pasha.

The Australian-born actor, who appeared in over 200 productions, made his Hindi film debut in Abdullah.

Alongside Helen, Fearless Nadia and Katrina Kaif, Christo is one of the few non-Indian actors to have achieved significant success in Bollywood.

Christo is reported to have been working on his autobiography, which had been scheduled for release in June, at the time of his death.
