Max Robinson

Max Robinson was an eminent broadcast journalist of America and is best known for being the first African American news anchor in the history of United States. He was aware of the fatal disease which he was having, but tried his very best to keep it as a secret for others. Robinson died of AIDS on December 20, 1988, in the hospital of Howard University. He was in Howard to deliver a speech where he became seriously ill.

However, ten years after his death, his wife disclosed in an autobiography that his death was the result of an infection of HIV. During his bypass surgery, his blood was contaminated during transfusion.

Lead vocalist of the British rock band “Queen,” Freddie Mercury was a notable singer, musician and song writer who enthralled millions of music lovers by his splashy stage persona and powerful performances. This rockstar was diagnosed with AIDS in 1987, and after suffering serious health problems for a long time, he died on November 24, 1991, in Kensington. Freddie was 45.

Arthur Ashe

Arthur Ashe was an illustrious tennis player and is best known for being the first and only black player to ever win the singles title of Wimbledon, Australian Open and the U.S. Open. He was also the first black player to play for the United States Davis Cup team. In 1983, Ashe underwent a heart surgery, but lamentably contracted HIV during the blood transfusion. Eventually, he died on February 6, 1993, after going through a long phase of illness.

A legend in the list of most famous Hollywood actors ever, Rock Hudson will be always remembered for being an acting epiphany. He also significantly contributed for the television industry during his potent career spanning over four decades. This stalwart of Hollywood movies was declared to be diagnosed with HIV in June, 1985, and finally bid adieu to this materialistic world on October 2, 1985, at his house in Beverly Hills.
