World’s top five models do not include Bundchen, Moss or Schiffer

Gisele Bundchen, Kate Moss, and Claudia Schiffer may be well known, but their names do not figure anywhere on the list of the world’s top five most in-demand models by industry standards. The list features rather less familiar names like Anja Rubik, 26, Freja Beha Erichsen, 23, Lara Stone, 27, Abbey Lee Kershaw, 24, and Constance Jablonski, 20, the Daily Mail reported. The five alone have collectively appeared on 265 magazine covers, walked 232 catwalk shows and have 115,000 Twitter followers. A survey by Fashion Spot showed, Polish model Rubik was the most in-demand girl between April 2010 and April this year, and she has posed on an impressive 59 magazine covers, and appeared on 43 designers’ runways. But that is a small workload compared to Constance Jablonski, 20, who walked for an impressive 83 designers in the past year alone. That is in addition to appearing on 46 magazine covers. Lara Stone, the Dutch-born model wife of comedian David Walliams, ranked third in the list, but due to her contract with Calvin Klein, her appearances have been fewer than her peers, with only two runway shows and 47 magazine covers. Danish model Freja Beha Erichsen is one of the industry’s most popular names, having landed high-profile campaigns for Chanel and Valentino. In addition to appearing on 65 different covers and in 51 shows, she also starred in a short film by Karl Lagerfeld. Melbourne-born Abbey Lee Kershaw rounds out the top five. She has also modelled for Chanel, as well as Tom Ford, and has been hailed Australia’s biggest model export since Elle Macpherson. daily times monitor

Claudia Schiffer too shy to ever model on the catwalk again

German model Claudia Schiffer has vowed to never step on the catwalk to model clothes again, and she put it down to the fact that she is "shy".

Schiffer, 40, also missed out on making an appearance at Paris Fashion Week because she had some last-minute work to do on her debut cashmere collection, which launched this week, also in Paris.

"Nobody believes me but I'm very shy," the Daily Mail quoted her as telling Vogue.

"I understood that I had to do it when I was modelling but now, since I don't have to do it, I'd rather not," she said.

She admitted to being "much better in small groups of people than on a stage with everybody looking at me", and she said that no amount of persuasion will change her mind.

"Designers are very clever at trying to persuade me to do it each season and it's flattering that they do, but nothing would change my mind," she added.

Claudia Schiffer welcomes second daughter

Claudia Schiffer is reportedly "doing well" after the birth of her third child at a central London hospital yesterday afternoon.

Schiffer and husband Matthew Vaughn, who recently directed Kick-Ass, married in 2002 and already have son Caspar, 7, and 5-year-old Clementine.

Schiffer confirmed in January that she was pregnant and announced in March that her then unborn child was to be a girl.

A statement from the couple read: "Claudia Schiffer and Matthew Vaughn are proud to announce the birth of their baby daughter who was born on Friday, May 14 in the early afternoon. Mother and baby are doing well."

According to PA, a spokesperson for the model said the child was born at the Portland Hospital in central London.
