Dog the Bounty Hunter bails out Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage was released from a New Orleans police station yesterday after having his bail posted by Duane 'Dog' Chapman.

Gossip Cop reports that Chapman and his wife Beth, best known for starring in the popular A&E television series Dog: The Bounty Hunter, posted Cage's $11,000 release bond.

"My guy just walked out of the jail damn New Orleans 8 hours holy cow that's a lot of time to process one guy," Beth Chapman tweeted after the incident.

Cage was arrestedyesterday morning on charges of domestic abuse and disturbing the peace following a public argument with his wife Alice Kim in the city's French Quarter.

The Chapmans run a bail bonds company out of their home in Hawaii, and claim that they are able to bail anyone out of prison from any state.

Cage has yet to make an official statement regarding his arrest.

Nicolas Cage 'arrested for domestic abuse'

Nicolas Cage has been arrested in New Orleans following a drunken argument with his wife in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The actor was arrested in the city's French Quarter on charges of both domestic abuse and disturbing the peace.

New Orleans Police spokesman Garry Flot has confirmed that Cage was seen engaging in a heated argument with his wife, Alice Kim, outside of their residence.

"[Nicolas Cage] and his wife were standing in front of a residence that he insisted was the property the couple was renting," Flot said, in a statement published by Reuters. "She disagreed and Cage grabbed her by the upper arm and pulled her to what he believed was the correct address."

Cage then allegedly began hitting vehicles near to him before attempting to get into a taxi cab.

A police officer close to the scene was quickly alerted to Cage's actions and made the arrest after noticing Cage's intoxicated state.

The Drive Angry 3D star has been married to third Kim since 2004, and the pair have a 5-year-old son named Kal-El together.

A representative from Cage's acting agency has comment on his arrest.



Nicolas Cage 'for Bollywood gangster film'


Nicolas Cage has reportedly been confirmed to play one of the main parts in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's next project Broken Horses.

Chopra is presently in Los Angeles casting for the Bollywood gangster film, which begins shooting in early 2011, the Hindustan Times reports.

A source revealed: "Cage has been confirmed for one of the leading roles just a few days ago."

Broken Horses is a remake of Chopra's earlier hit, the Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit starrer Parinda.

"Broken Horses keeps the soul of Parinda intact. But it explores the same genre in a diverse setup," added the source.

Chopra was recently honoured in a retrospective of his work at the First Indian Film Festival of London.

'purchases pyramid tomb'

Nicolas Cage has reportedly purchased a 9-foot tall pyramid-shaped structure built in a New Orleans cemetery.

According to TMZ, the National Treasure star bought the pyramid with the expectation that it will be his final resting place.

It is unclear how much Cage paid for the tomb or why he intends to use it as his gravesite.

The 46-year-old was recently ordered to pay East West Bank more than $2m (£1.29m). He also sold two historic New Orleans homes in a foreclosure auction because of his financial woes.

Nicolas Cage's new role: UN ambassador

Movie star Nicolas Cage is making headlines again but this time instead of his money woes he's been hailed for his humanitarian work by the United Nations.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon presented the actor with the Global Citizen of the Year award on Friday in New York City.

As well, the Oscar winner was named UN goodwill ambassador on drugs and crime.

"My real life role as goodwill ambassador will certainly be even more challenging and meaningful than those I have portrayed on screen," said Cage who is an advocate for Amnesty International.

UN officials are hoping the 45-year-old actor will shine a light on global justice issues in his new role.

"Nicolas Cage's characters have exposed us to some of the darkest aspects of human nature," said Antonio Maria Costa, executive director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
