Bollywood dancer lies about royal wedding

Bollywood choreographer Sandip Soparrkar has said that his planned dance performance at the royal wedding has been scrapped due to a knee injury.

The Indian dancer, who had earlier gone on record to say that he would be performing at the reception, has now been accused of inventing the whole episode.

Soparrkar told The Times of India: "I was invited in January by James Kidner, assistant private secretary to HRH The Prince of Wales.

"It was a private ceremony, so I wasn't allowed to give out any details. I was also going to have a small bash in Mumbai before leaving for London, where actress Kangna Ranaut was to unveil the royal invitation that I had received."

Brushing aside reports that palace officials claim not to know anything about the Bollywood dance, Soparrkar stated: "Why would I waste my money on all this, if I were to call it off at the last minute? Am I not worried about my reputation?"

The performer earlier claimed to have dated Britney Spears, and given advice to Madonna about adopting an Indian baby.

The royal wedding in numbers

It can't have escaped your notice that there's something of an event going on at Westminster Abbey tomorrow. You've looked at our FAQ, but you may still have a few questions lingering. How many coppers will be keeping the royal couple safe? How many wedding cakes are there? Here's a quick round-up of all the fast facts and figures about the big day to help clear things up!

An estimated two billion viewers will be watching the wedding on TVs around the world.

The families are paying around 70 million quid for the shindig themselves but the Great British public are still forking out an estimated 20 million pounds for the security costs.

That pays for around 5,000 police officers, who will be helped by 35 dogs who are specially-trained to sniff for bombs. In a bid to make their job easier, the authorities have banned 60 convicted criminals from the area around Westminster Abbey as part of their bail terms.

1,900 guests have been invited to the ceremony, but only 600 will make it to lunch at the Palace. That gets whittled down to 300 for dinner and dancing.

That number is dwarfed by the 8,000 TV and radio journalists who are covering the event (with 50 popping over from CNN alone). That's not to mention all the print journos making the trip!

There will be 187 horses on parade during the day. There'll be nine grey horses as part of the escort for the royal procession and five horse-drawn carriages.

Don't bother heading to John Lewis for the wedding list - the royal couple have instead chosen 26 charities to which guests and well-wishers can donate.

There are four bridesmaids for Kate - Eliza Lopes, Grace van Cutsem, The Hon. Margarita Armstrong-Jones and The Lady Louise Windsor. It's five if you include her Maid of Honour - younger sister Philippa Middleton

With all the talk of The Dress - Kate Middleton will actually sport three outfits. That wedding dress, plus a couple of other get-ups for the other parts of the day.

Two wedding cakes will be prepared. A traditional fruit cake with white icing and cream from Fiona Cairns is the official one. At Prince William's request, the reception will also boast a chocolate biscuit cake from McVitie's, made with 1,700 rich tea biscuits.

There'll be just one wedding ring though. Apparently Prince William - like his grandad Philip - won't be given a wedding band at the ceremony.

Morrissey: 'England doesn't need royal family'

Morrissey has insisted that England does not need the royal family.

In an interview with Radio 4, the Smiths singer confessed that he will not be watching the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton as he considers the event to be a joke.

"Why would I watch the wedding? I couldn't take any of that seriously," he explained. "I don't think the so-called royal family speak for England now, and I don't think England needs them.

"I do seriously believe that they are benefit scroungers, nothing else. I don't believe they serve any purpose whatsoever. I'm not an anarchist, but I believe that people don't want the royal family - the so-called royal family. They're not royal to me, but they're royal to the media for some reason."

Royal wedding official programme released online

The official programme for Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding has been made available to download.

Included in the programme is the full Order of Service which will be followed by the 1,900 guests at the ceremony in Westminster Abbey tomorrow morning. The front and back of the booklet are adorned with William and Middleton's respective family Coat of Arms.

Among the details about the prayers, music and hymns which will be heard, it has been confirmed that the bride-to-be's brother James Middleton will read The Lesson.

A personal message from the couple on page two of the 28-page document reads: "We are both so delighted that you are able to join using celebrating what we hope will be one of the happiest days of our lives.

"The affection shown to us by so many people during our engagement has been incredibly moving, and has touched us both deeply."

They added: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone most sincerely for their kindness."

It also reveals that Middleton will vow to "love, comfort, honour and keep" Prince William, while omitting 'obey'.

The official programme is available to download from the royal wedding website and 150,000 copies, priced £2 ($3.33) each, will be on sale across London.

Royal wedding fever continues to grip the globe as the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton fast approaches.

Londoner Watkinson, 29, said: "I've often been told that I look like Prince William, particularly since the royal engagement was announced, but I can't believe that I've been crowned the winner. I'm so excited to have won a year's worth of free easyJet flights and to be in London for the big day."

Rossi, also 29, from Milan, added: "To be voted the best double to one of the most famous women in the world is very exciting. This really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and there isn't a better place to be to enjoy the celebrations."

The reality TV star was not invited to the ceremony on Friday and said that she would have been kicked out if she was.

The 30-year-old, who is dating property developer Dan Foden, has her own reality TV show, Kerry Katona: The Next Chapter, on ITV2 but said that she wouldn't like to be in the public eye as much as Katie Price.

Prince William 'underwear party' photos surface

Prince William has been pictured dancing in his underwear with a pink feather boa wrapped around his neck, in shots taken from a 2002 party.

The People has published images of the soon-to-be-married royal, who last month revelled in a low-key water-themed stag weekend, racing around in his boxer shorts at a friend's 21st birthday.

The images were allegedly taken in William's second year at the University of St Andrews, when the young Windsor's activities were subject to strict reporting restrictions.

A fellow partygoer said of the Prince: "He was cool about stripping off and really going for it. To think he's the future king of England is just incredible.

"He was having a boogie in his pants and a couple of feather boas.It shows how popular he was. Wills wasn't a big boozer - these were just high jinks."

Prince William 'bans beer from royal wedding'

Prince William and Kate Middleton have reportedly banned the consumption of beer at their wedding reception.

Guests will be served champagne and wine after beer was deemed to be unsuitable for such a prestigious occasion, The Mirror reports.

A source said: "There won't be any beer. Let's face it, it isn't really an appropriate drink to be serving in the Queen's presence at such an occasion. It was always their intention to give their guests a sophisticated experience and they have chosen the food and drink with this in mind."

The pair have apparently agreed to stay sober throughout the celebrations in order to savour their special day.

Canapés expected to be served at the event include quail's eggs with celery salt, mini Yorkshire puddings with roast beef and mini sausage rolls.

The royal wedding takes place on Friday April 29 and will be streamed live on YouTube.

Wills, Kate 'to honeymoon on Great Barrier Reef'

Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly planning to honeymoon on the Great Barrier Reef of Australia.

According to the Sunday Mirror, the couple will visit Lizard Island - a national park in the Coral Sea off the coast of Queensland. The destination is a one-hour flight from Cairns.

Speaking of his honeymoon last month, William hinted that they could visit Australia: "I love scuba diving. I have always wanted to dive the [Great] Barrier Reef," he said. "I will have to come back - maybe we'll have a honeymoon in Cairns?"

Front-of-house manager of the resort Adam Grace said: "The best thing about Lizard Island is its location, its diving and its snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef. Lizard Island is a great place for honeymooners. There are pictures of Prince Charles when he stayed here as a young man, so it's possible he has recommended it."

Kate Hudson, Charlize Theron, Teri Hatcher and Tiger Woods have all holidayed on the island in the past. The royal couple are expected to fly first class on a British Airways flight.

They will take the trip after spending their wedding night in the Belgian Suite in Buckingham Palace.

The royal wedding will take place on Friday.

The Things You Must Know About The Royal Wedding

As wedding fever grasps the country in its blue-blooded grip, many of us are full of questions about the big day. Where's it happening? What time is it? How can I get an invite?!? Rather than have you looking all over the internet or getting on the blower to Clarence House, we thought we'd help out by getting all the facts in one handy place. So, in the run up to the big moment for Prince William and Kate Catherine Middleton, here are the answers to all those frequently asked questions about the royal wedding.

1. When is the royal wedding? It all starts on Friday, April 29, which has kindly been made an extra bank holiday for us plebs. The ceremony itself begins at 11am, but be sure to tune in earlier for the build-up.

2. Where is the royal wedding happening? The service takes place in Westminster Abbey, where all British monarchs have been crowned since 1066. The Gothic church has also hosted many a royal wedding, including those of the then Princess Elizabeth (Liz II) and Philip in 1947, Princess Anne and Mark Phillips in 1973 and Prince Andrew and Fergie in 1986.

3. Where can I watch the royal wedding on TV? Like the World Cup, you can choose! Huw Edwards fronts the coverage on the BBC, Phillip Schofield and Julie Etchingham do the honours over at ITV, and Eamonn Holmes is on at Sky. CNN will be sending over its own crew from the States while NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox and the rest are all getting their usual big hitters involved in the coverage. The Wall Street Journal predicts a worldwide audience of two billion!

4. What's happening during the royal wedding ceremony? Joining Di's old engagement ring on Kate's wedding finger will be a new ring made from gold from the Clogau Gold Mine in the Welsh mountains. Like his grandad Phil, Wills will not be given a ring. There'll be toots of accolade from some RAF trumpeters, who have written a new piece called 'Valiant and Brave' for the occasion. More music comes from The London Chamber Orchestra, The Choir of Westminster Abbey and The Chapel Royal Choir. An album of the tunes will be released on all formats (including cassette!) on May 5.

5. Where can I wave my flag at Kate Middleton's car? Clarence House tells us that she'll be driven through The Mall, Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall and Parliament Square on the way to the ceremony. The happy couple will then take a processional route to Buckingham Palace for some partying.

6. What's the royal wedding party going to be like? After the ceremony, friends and family of K&W have been invited to a private lunch reception hosted by Her Majesty. That evening Prince Charles has organised a private dinner (expect plenty of Duchy Originals-branded nibbles) before Philip and the rest do their stuff on the dancefloor into the night.

7. Who's invited to the royal wedding? Not us (and not Simon Cowell nor Cheryl Cole either). 1,900 have been asked to the ceremony, 600 to lunch at the Palace, and 300 for the evening do. All the big British royals and Middleton's family will be there. So will foreign royalty, international politicians and (if they can be squeezed in) some of Kate and Wills's mates. Yes, yes, what about the celebs?! David and Victoria Beckham will of course be in attendance, as will Sir Elton John and David Furnish. Guy Ritchie, Sir Clive Woodward and Rowan Atkinson are all said to be donning a tux and heading along.

8. How much will the royal wedding cost? Estimates vary from £50m-£100m (Even Charles and Camilla's low-key affair in 2005 was £5m). The main cost will be met by the Royals and the Middletons. Us lot will still be shelling out for the security and transport (estimates: £20m-80m), via the taxman. Some have complained about the money lost to the economy from that extra day off, but surely that'll be made back in sales of commemorative plates and tea towels?

9. How can we celebrate the royal wedding at home? Simply bring out the bunting and plonk all your Kate and Wills merchandise on a table in the middle of your street. Don't worry about the "pen pushers and busybodies" in local government, David Cameron says. "Let me put it like this: I am the Prime Minister and I am telling you if you want to have a street party, you go ahead and have one." Yikes! Maybe someone should remind Dave that he's not actually the king.

10. What wedding dress will Kate Middleton wear? Ah, the biggest question of all! At the moment, we don't quite know... the latest rumour is that she'll be donning a fetching number by Sophie Cranston of the Libélula label. Other hot tips for her designer have included Daniella Helayel, Phillipa Lepley, Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, Bruce Oldfield and Jasper Conran. Oldfield has claimed that Kate will have three dresses made for the whole day - clearly she wants to compete with Anne Hathaway's Oscars gig for the 'Most Outfits For One Event' prize. We don't fancy John Galliano's chances of doing any of them!

Reese Witherspoon 'wanted royal wedding invite'

Reese Witherspoon has joked that she is disappointed she didn't receive an invitation to the royal wedding.

The Water For Elephants actress explained that she invited Prince William and Kate Middleton to her and Jim Toth's wedding last month.

She said in an interview with Live! with Regis and Kelly: "I can't even contain my enthusiasm for the royal wedding!

"I'm kind of bummed I'm not invited to the royal wedding. My girlfriend asked me if I was invited. Well, no, but I invited them to my wedding!"

The 35-year-old, who married Toth, 40, at her Californian ranch, quipped about the importance of a second marriage.

She added: "As my girlfriend says, 'You only get married for the second time once'."

Witherspoon also revealed that her two children Ava, 11, and 7-year-old Deacon were excited about seeing her walk down the aisle.

She confessed: "My daughter helped me pick out my dress. She was my maid of honour. It wasn't stressful."

Kate's parents to spend 100,000 pounds on her wedding

London: With their daughter set to marry Prince William, parents of Kate Middleton will be spending about 100,000 pounds to pay for expenses like bridal gowns and hotel suites bills.

According to a report in 'The Sunday Times', Carole and Michael Middleton, mother and father of Kate will also contribute to the cost of an evening reception and disco hosted by Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace, apart from paying bills for hotel suites, bridal gowns, bridemaids dresses, the maid of honour's outfit and the honeymoon.

Kate's parents have made millions from their mail order party business.

They will pay for several suites at the Goring hotel in Belgravia including 4,000 pounds-a-night two-bedroom, five-room suite for Kate and her sister Pippa, the maid of honour.

One-room Belgravia suites costing 1,140 pounds each including Vat will be taken for Carole and Michael, their son James, Kate's brother, plus a number of other close relatives and friends.

The Goring is not far from Buckingham Palace.

The hotel bill alone is expected to touch 20,000 pounds, including dinner, breakfast and drinks.

Other expenses include 30,000 pounds for Kate's bridal gowns and 20,000 pounds for Pippa's dress.

Prince Charles will cover most of the other costs and the Queen will host the lunchtime reception.

The cost of Prince Charles' wedding to Lady Diana in 1981 was estimated to have been 30 million pounds, but most of the security costs were picked up by the taxpayer.

Even Charles's modest wedding to his second wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, may have cost 5 million pounds.

An official spokesman for Prince Charles said, "The Middletons have offered to contribute to the cost of the wedding. How much they contribute is a private matter".
