Schwarzenegger to star in action thriller 'Ten'

The film, which is being distributed by Open Road Films, will be directed by "Training Day," "S.W.A.T." and "U-571" writer David Ayer.

The film will follow an elite but crooked DEA task force that battles the world's deadliest drug cartels, when they're not busy stealing millions of dollars. The team thinks its thievery is a well-kept secret, until someone begins bumping them off one by one.

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and "A Good Day to Die Hard" writer Skip Woods penned the original screenplay.

Bill Block, Paul Hanson, Joe Roth, Palak Patel and Al Ruddy will produce, with Alex Ott of Ayer's Crave Films serving as executive producer. QED International is financing the project.

Ayer's most recent directing project, "End of Watch" will be released by Open Road in September. Schwarzenegger, who's currently filming the action flick "The Tomb," also co-stars in the action sequel "The Expendables 2" with Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone, among others.

"I am really excited about this project and the team that's come together," Schwarzenegger said of the project. "David Ayer is incredibly talented and exactly what I want for a story this compelling."

Promising that "Ten" will provide "an amazing role for Arnold," Ayer added, "Reality is the watchword of this project and an exciting cast is in the works."

Ayer called Schwarzenegger "one of my longtime heroes."

Schwarzenegger's signing on for "Ten," along with "The Tomb" and "The Expendables 2," marks an ongoing return to the big screen for the 64-year-old, after he embarked on a comeback that was nearly destroyed by personal scandal.

In May 2011 the actor put all upcoming projects on hold after news broke that he had fathered an illegitimate child with he and then-wife Maria Shriver's housekeeper, Mildred Baena.

(Shriver separated from Schwarzenegger, who had recently termed out as California's governor, shortly before news of the affair broke.)

However, in July 2011, Schwarzenegger resumed comeback plans with the Lionsgate action thriller "The Last Stand." That film, which stars Schwarzenegger as a small-town sheriff, has wrapped production and is slated for a January 18, 2013 release. (Reuters)

Schwarzenegger to star in film

LOS ANGELES: Arnold Schwarzenegger is back at work -- with a real Jackass.

The former California governor and action star is now shooting "The Last Stand," Lionsgate's chase story, with "Jackass" star Johnny Knoxville and Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker, Lionsgate announced Monday.

Harry Dean Stanton, Eduardo Noriega, Rodrigo Santoro, Luis Guzman and Jaimie Alexander also star.

Shooting began Monday and will take place in New Mexico and Nevada.

The Korean director Kim Jee-Woon ("A Tale of Two Sisters," "The Good, The Bad, The Weird") is directing.

"The Last Stand" is about a former Los Angeles Police officer who becomes the sheriff of a sleepy border town and finds himself standing between a ruthless drug cartel leader and the border.

Lionsgate says the movie includes "one of the most daring face offs in cinema history."
The movie is based on Andrew Knauer's spec script which Jeffrey Nachmanoff ("The Day After Tomorrow") rewrote. (Reuters)

Stallone and Schwarzenegger in film stand off

Hollywood's screen rivals --Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger are likely to clash over the title of the next Rambo movie. The script for the latest installment in the action series is complete and has been named as Rambo: The Last Stand.

And the former Californian governor, who is set to make his action return in the similarly titled Last Stand is likely to have a clash over the same title, reported Sun online. The Terminator star announced the movie in April and now Rambo screenwriter Sean Hood has revealed the script for the fifth movie is complete, although Stallone is yet to commit.

"I recently finished a first draft of Rambo: Last Stand for Millennium films, based on a story idea by Sylvester Stallone. Hopefully, Stallone will eventually have the time and the inclination to do another Rambo. I met with Stallone twice last year. He gave me a book, an older screenplay, and about twenty pages he'd written himself to use as inspiration for the last chapter of the Rambo saga. It's more in line with the small-town thriller of First Blood," said Hood.

Before embarking on their respective shoots, the aging action heroes will be working together on the sequel to last year's hit movie The Expendables.

Arnie could be charged over cigar

VIENNA: Was it lit or was it cold? The status of a cigar in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s mouth at an Austrian airport could decide whether or not he faces legal action.

Smoking at airports is banned in Austria and an anti-smoking lobby said Tuesday it plans to launch a suit against the former California governor for puffing on a stogie after arriving in June at Salzburg Airport.

But officials suggest the affair will go up in smoke.

Salzburg municipal legal expert Josef Goldberger told state broadcaster ORF that Arnie can ignore any requests from authorities in his homeland to respond since the charge is not covered by treaties.

Airport spokesman Alexander Klaus, meanwhile, says the cigar was out. ”Burning cigars smoke and there were no puffs for Schwarzenegger,” he says.

I feel excellent," Christopher "

Arnold Schwarzenegger's son Christopher has said that he is feeling much better in the wake of his recent accident.

The 13-year-old was admitted to intensive care after breaking several bones and suffering a collapsed lung while surfing in Malibu earlier this month.

Christopher was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday and has since been seen driving around Los Angeles with his big sister Katherine.

While out on the town, Christopher took the time to tell TMZ that he is feeling "excellent" following his stint in the intensive care unit.

Arnold and his estranged wife Maria Shriver released a statement earlier this week in which they revealed that their son will make a full recovery.

The couple announced their separation in May after 25 years of marriage.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's son released from hospital

Arnold Schwarzenegger's son has been released from hospital.

Christopher Schwarzenegger - the 13-year-old son of the former Governor of California and his estranged spouse Maria Shriver - had been in intensive care after suffering a collapsed lung, broken bones and broken ribs in a boogie boarding accident in Malibu last Sunday but his mother has now confirmed he was allowed home last night.

Maria tweeted: "Blessed to be able to take Christopher out of the hospital last night. What a feeling of relief knowing that he's going to be fine."

Arnold also took to his twitter page to thank the efforts of medical staff involved in treating his son.

He posted: "I knew Christopher couldn't be stopped! Big thanks to all the doctors, nurses & staff at UCLA that helped him recover."

The 'Terminator' star had earlier thanked fans for their support and well-wishes.

He wrote: "Thanks for all your support for Christopher. It means a lot to me & to him. He's doing much better & we'll have him back at full speed soon."

Maria and Arnold - who split shortly before it was revealed he had fathered a 13-year-old child with their former housekeeper - have three other kids, Katherine, 21, Christina, 19 and Patrick, 17.

Son recovering from surfing mishap: Schwarzenegger

LOS ANGELES — Arnold Schwarzenegger says his 13-year-old son Christopher will soon be back "at full speed" after a surfing accident last week left him hospitalized in intensive care.

The former California governor and movie star -- who is being divorced by his wife Maria Shriver after he admitted to fathering a child by their housekeeper -- thanked well-wishers who voiced support for the boy's recovery.

"Thanks for all your support for Christopher. It means a lot to me & to him," said Schwarzenegger, who released a joint statement with Shriver on Friday talking about "our son Christopher."

"He's doing much better & we'll have him back at full speed soon," he said on his Twitter feed.
The teenager spent last week in intensive care after suffering broken bones and a collapsed lung in the boogie-boarding accident in Malibu the weekend before last, according to media reports.

Shriver filed for divorce three weeks ago citing "irreconcilable differences" with her husband, whom she married in 1986, following his admission in May that he fathered a child with the couple's housekeeper.
In filings to the Los Angeles Superior Court last week, Schwarzenegger said he would refuse financial support for Shriver, while seeking joint custody of their two minor children, Patrick and Christopher.

Shriver is a member of the storied Kennedy political clan, and jointly she and Schwarzenegger are reported to be worth $400 million.

The Austrian-born former bodybuilder, a liberal Republican, left office in January, and started to return to show business, with plans for a "Governator" comic book and animated TV show.

But he put his comeback on hold in May, telling his agents that "all his motion picture projects currently underway or being negotiated (should) stop planning until further notice." Source: AFP

Schwarzenegger has another love child

Arnold Schwarzenegger seems to be bracing for more sex cheat claims as another woman has claimed she had his secret love child.

The actor has admitted his marriage collapsed because he had a baby with a housekeeper 14 years ago but hid the truth from his wife Maria Shriver.

And sources close to the action movie hero said the Shriver is horrified by the possibility of more women coming forward.

It has been reported that one woman has contacted a lawyer claiming Schwarzenegger is the father of her daughter and has asked for a DNA test to prove paternity.

She has claimed that she met the Terminator star at a club eight years ago and had a brief fling.

She has no evidence to prove the actor is the father.

"Arnie faces the possibility of more and more women claiming they had a relationship with him. It will be an increasingly tough time for both him and Maria,” the Mirror quoted a source as saying.

Schwarzenegger kids "banding together" for mother

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver's four children have reportedly "banded together" to support their mother in the wake of the former California's governor's announcement that he fathered a love child more than a decade ago.

Following Schwarzenegger's public admission of his infidelity earlier this week, an apparent family source told Us Weekly that 21-year-old Katherine, 19-year-old Christina, 17-year-old Patrick and 13-year-old Christopher are focused on helping Shriver through this troubling time.

"The kids are all banding together to support their mum right now and they're doing their best to stay out of the spotlight," the insider claimed.

Eldest daughter Katherine, who expressed family unity on her official Twitter page this week, is thought to be particularly concerned for her mother's state of mind.

The source went on to say that all four kids feel "really betrayed and embarrassed that [Schwarzenegger's affair is] out in the open", adding: "Not for their dad's sake but for Maria."

It was reported today that a close friend of Shriver has claimed that Schwarzenegger "completely betrayed" his wife by "concealing" a secret affair for more than ten years.

Schwarzenegger and Shriver announced their separation one week before the Austrian admitted to carrying on an extramarital relationship with a household employee believed to be Mildred Patricia Baena.
