Sean Connery rules the roost when it comes to playing James Bond, with new polls naming him the best 007 spy ever.
Two separate polls of 25,000 Bond fans were conducted to mark the release of new Bond flick ‘Quantum Of Solace’. As many as 23,000 film fans in a poll by MSN Movies, and 2,500 in a survey by online rental firm LoveFilm were quizzed on their perfect movie. The majority preferred Connery, the original Bond, as their choice for playing the role of the super spy. Winning almost half the votes in his favour, the 78-year-old star has left behind current Bond Daniel Craig, 40, who came second with a quarter votes. The perfect baddie in the perfect Bond flick, according to fans, would be Jaws, played by Richard Kiel in ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ and ‘Moonraker’, winning almost one third of votes in its favour. And, 46 years after she came out of the sea in a white bikini in ‘Dr No’, Ursula Andress, 72, was voted as the sexiest Bond girl till date. And the best name amongst all 007 flicks was Pussy Galore, played by Honor Blackman in Goldfinger. The saucy Famke Janssen was the ultimate femme fatale as Xenia Onatopp—all thanks to her fight with Pierce Brosnan. Daniel Craig’s combat with baddie Mollaka in the opening of ‘Casino Royale’ was best fight, and Roger Moore’s ski chase and parachute jump in ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ turned out to be the top stunt. “It’s no surprise that Sean Connery comes out as the nation’s favourite, together with Ursula Andress, the sexiest without a doubt!” British tabloid The Sun quoted Graham Rye, editor of 007 Magazine, as saying.
