Anushka Sharma was reportedly chosen for Aditya Chopra's new film over Katrina Kaif because of her young looks.
The actress will take a supporting role in Chopra's as-yet-untitled movie for Yash Raj productions, Mumbai Mirror reports.
A source told the paper: "The script requires a strong actor for the second lead in the film. Yash and Aditya were scouting around and then thought that Anushka seemed to be an obvious choice, for more than one reason.
"The role required an actress who looks younger than Katrina Kaif. And few actresses fit that requirement. Anushka was just the right choice."
Sharma recently replaced Deepika Padukone in a forthcoming project starring the latter's ex-boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor.
The 23-year old, who made her debut in 2008, will next be seen in romantic comedy The Ladies vs Ricky Bahl.
