Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma 'clash over make-up artist'

Katrina Kaif has reportedly demanded that her regular make-up artist cancel an assignment with her alleged rival Anushka Sharma.

Make-up artist Subhash initially refused to perform the patchwork for the Tees Maar Khan actress as he had already made arrangements to travel to London to work with Sharma.

A source told Mumbai Mirror: "Katrina on Sunday refused to let Subhash go for the assignment since she had some urgent patchwork shoot to finish on Monday.

"Subhash informed Katrina and her manager Sandhya that he wouldn't be able to cancel his trip to London since he had already got the visa and the tickets in place.

"But Katrina just wouldn't let go of him. In fact, she called in the higher authorities."

Sharma and Kaif both work for Yash Raj Films, and both are currently shooting Mere Brother Ki Dulhann opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

"When [director] Aditya Chopra learnt about it, he called up Anushka and asked her not to take the make-up artist Subhash along with her," the source claimed.

"Anushka Sharma has been a YRF discovery. And Katrina is the hot favourite in the camp right now."

They added that Sharma will also be taking the lead role in Yash Chopra's next film starring Khan.

The 23-year old actress made her acting debut in Yash Raj Films' Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

Anushka Sharma 'chosen for young looks'

Anushka Sharma was reportedly chosen for Aditya Chopra's new film over Katrina Kaif because of her young looks.

The actress will take a supporting role in Chopra's as-yet-untitled movie for Yash Raj productions, Mumbai Mirror reports.

A source told the paper: "The script requires a strong actor for the second lead in the film. Yash and Aditya were scouting around and then thought that Anushka seemed to be an obvious choice, for more than one reason.

"The role required an actress who looks younger than Katrina Kaif. And few actresses fit that requirement. Anushka was just the right choice."

Sharma recently replaced Deepika Padukone in a forthcoming project starring the latter's ex-boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor.

The 23-year old, who made her debut in 2008, will next be seen in romantic comedy The Ladies vs Ricky Bahl.

Anushka Sharma throwing more tantrums than Katrina

A bitchy actress calls to say that Anushka Sharma is becoming too big for her boots these days.

When a cinematographer is setting up the light, he makes the actors to stand there so that the light falls properly on their face and make them look optimally beautiful. But Miss Sharma feels she is a diva.

The birdy from the crew says, "On the sets of Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, she sends one of her assistants of the same height to stand in for her to get the lighting right, as it's a waste of time for her. She doesn't realise that it falls differently on every face.

Even Katrina and Kareena stand because they know it will make them look beautiful. Anushka's co-stars are laughing at her because of her ignorance and attitude."

95-year-old MF Husain's new muse

After Madhuri Dixit, Tabu and Amrita Rao, M F Husain has found a new muse in Anushka Sharma.

At last count, the celebrated artist had seen her film Band Baaja Baaraat eight times and was looking forward to several more repeat viewings.

The 95-year-old finds the movie fascinating. Husain who now lives in Doha in Qatar and travels to Dubai often has been catching up on Maneesh Sharma's movie with his family and close friends.

And interestingly, when he watches the flick, he does not put on his spectacles. He has been claiming that ever since he saw Anushka, his vision has improved!

On New Year's Day, Husain watched the film with his close pal, Mumbai-based businessman Munna Javeri, who was visitng him in Dubai.

"In the cinema hall I was shocked to seen him remove his glasses, " says Javeri. "He knew all the dialogues and he viewed the film like a painting filled with colours. If only he had a brush in hand"

Speaking from Dubai, Husain says, "It's still running to packed halls in its fourth week. Anushka was okay in the Shah Rukh starrer Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, but in Band Baaja Baaraat she has proved what an intelligent actor she is.

She knows what subtle acting is all about. Even Ranveer Singh is good."

He feels the movie has a crisp, well-written script and the second half springs a twist. "It is a simple subject without any complications. This is what leading filmmakers must learn who unnecessarily complicate their movies."

Previoulsy he was fascinated by Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Vivaah which had marriage as their themes. And so does Band Baaja Baraat. "It's not that because they are all wedding related. It is because they celebrate life and colours which I cherish, " adds Husain.
He plans to see the movie as many times till it runs there. And next time when Anushka is in Dubai or Doha, she is sure to have a portrait of hers presented by the celebrated artist!

FACT: M F Husain has watched the Madhuri Dixit-starrer Hum Aapke Hain Koun 73 times and Amrita Rao-starrer Vivaah 20 times.

Anushka entry in 'Patiala House' poster

Anushka Sharma couldn't have asked for more. The petite actress, who was missing from the first poster of her next outing "Patiala House", has now managed to get into a new one, thanks to the success of her last outing "Band Baaja Baaraat".

A movie about father-son relationship, "Patiala House" stars Akhsay Kumar in the male lead with Rishi Kapoor in a pivotal role. The movie has been inspired by England cricket team's first Sikh player Monty Panesar, where Akshay has been shown as a British citizen who sacrifices his dream of being a pace bowler for his autocratic father's ideals.

"The filmmakers wanted to portray the same in their first key art poster for their audiences. So they finalized that the poster will feature Rishi Kapoor and Akshay Kumar in order to give an insight about the film and the relationship they share. The poster was all set to be launched but then 'Band Baaja Baaraat' released and saw a huge success," said a statement from the film's publicist.

"So after the success of 'Band Baaja Baaraat', the makers of 'Patiala House' wanted to feature Anushka in the poster as well," it further read.

Director Nikhil Advani also echoed the same.

"Anushka is a great actress and we are happy that she is part of 'Patiala House'. She has proved her talent and charm in her recent hit as well... we were always planning on multiple posters which are out for the audiences," said Advani.

The movie hits the screens Feb 11.

Why am I less famous?

Sharma added that she thinks the other leading ladies are less famous for their films than they are for their off-screen activities.

"I am glad that I am known for my talent and not for my clothes or controversies," she told the paper.

Sharma made her Bollywood debut alongside Shah Rukh Khan in 2008 with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, for which she was nominated for a Filmfare award.
