Daniel Radcliffe: 'No royal wedding fever'

Daniel Radcliffe has said that he wishes Prince William and Kate Middleton all the best, but admits that he hasn't been caught up in royal wedding fever yet.

The Harry Potter star was asked for his thoughts on the impending nuptials on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

"You know, it seems to be a much bigger deal over here than it is at home, from what I'm gathering," he said.

"From the friends I have spoken to, the thing they are most excited about is it means we get a four-day weekend at home! That's the kind of thing that's driving most people."

He added: "I wish them all the happiness in the world but I'm not going as feverish as everyone else seems to [be]."

As for whether he has ever met a member of the royal family, he said: "I've met Fergie. Does that count? I'm not being callous! It's genuinely ignorance. She's still a duchess, right? Yes? So I have [met royalty]."

The royal wedding is scheduled to take place at Westminster Abbey in London on Friday.

Radcliffe was on the NBC show to promote his Broadway production How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, which is currently playing at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. He can also be seen in the final instalment in the Harry Potter franchise, Deathly Hallows Part 2, which opens at cinemas on July 15.

Daniel Radcliffe to get Trevor Award for preventing suicides among gays

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe will be honoured with the Trevor Hero Award, for his work to prevent suicide among gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth.

Radcliffe, 21, has worked closely with the Trevor Project over the past few years earning him the group’s Hero Award in a Big Apple ceremony in June.

“It’s fantastic,” the New York Daily News quoted Radcliffe as saying.

“The fact that they think of what I’ve done by promoting awareness of the Trevor Project itself and the issues that it works to promote and help is a great honour,” he stated.

Radcliffe, who has appeared in public service announcements for the group, was quick to point out that the real heroes were those involved in the organization’s day-to-day efforts to save lives.

“The people that are doing the heroic things are the people answering phones 24 hours a day in the Trevor call centres,” he said.

“I think this is absolutely one of the most important, if not the most important, thing that I’m associated with,” he added.

The Trevor Hero Award recognizes someone who serves as an inspiration to sexual minority youths.
The organization was founded in 1998 by filmmakers James Lecesne, Peggy Rajski and Randy Stone.
Their 1994 film, ‘Trevor’, about a gay 13-year-old boy who tried to commit suicide after his friends learned of his sexuality, won the Academy Award for Film Short.

Daniel Radcliffe all set to bring his star magic to Broadway musical

"This boy will be famous. There won't be a child in our world who doesn't know his name," said Professor McGonagall.

And the prophecy came true.
Daniel Radcliffe, who gained fame for playing wizard boy Harry Potter, has left Hogwarts and is all set to bring his star magic to a Broadway revival of 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying'.

In an exclusive interview with CBS News, the 21-year-old actor speaks about his commitment to make some magic of another kind.

He is starring as J. Pierrepont Finch in the 50th-anniversary revival of 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying'.

"No, no. I mean, singing, I can do. But dance took a lot of work. I worked for about a year and a half with two dance teachers, one after the other, to get half-decent. And now, hopefully, you know, I'll be able to surprise a few people," Radcliffe said when asked whether he was a natural song and dance man.

The dancing shoes might be something new. But performing is an old hat.
Ten years ago, a blockbuster series of books inspired a big budget series of movies, and 11-year-old Radcliffe was picked to play Harry Potter.

With each new film - and every red carpet appearance - the world watched him grow up.

His school was Hogwarts, and his classmates and teachers were the cast and crew around him.

But unlike a number of child stars, Radcliffe said his extracurricular activities have not included late night parties and nightclubs.

He made his debut in 2008 in the macabre psychological thriller 'Equus' and stunned audiences with a nude scene.

The actor also told the host that he doesn't read reviews, even the good ones.
"If you're going to read the good ones, you have to read the bad ones. And I certainly don't want to read the bad ones! So I'm not going to read the good ones. The closest thing I've done to that is, I once went online and read, like, some things people were saying about me. And that was just the biggest mistake. I mean, like, that is just, anybody who ever feels like doing that is, it's just insane," he said.

He also spoke of the final 'Harry Potter' film.
"You know, I cried, I wept like a child on the day we finished filming. It has been like a family, and it's scary to have to go out into the real world. It feels like you're, you know, leaving the nest. But at the same time, you know, we always knew it was going to end. And we can't just go on indefinitely, filming Harry Potter films," said the actor.

Harry Potter, Broadway producers battle for Daniel Radcliffe

Actor Daniel Radcliffe's commitment to appear in a Broadway show has clashed with the premiere of the final Harry Potter, leaving producers of the two shows to battle over him.

Radcliffe, 21, had committed to appear in the revival of 'How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying' at the Hirschfeld Theatre, which started previews on February 26 and runs until at least November 6.

But Warner Bros. chiefs were furious that his Broadway deal meant he might not be available to promote 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2', to be launched with a lavish premiere at London's Trafalgar Square on July 7.

In tense negotiations, 'How To Succeed' producers refused to release Radcliffe for the days when Warner needed him -- forcing the studio to buy out the whole theatre for the nights he'd have to miss.

"Warner Bros. is furious that Radcliffe committed to Broadway when he should be promoting 'Harry Potter'," the New York Post quoted a source as saying.

"This is the final film, so it's a big deal. A grand world premiere is being planned as well as a US premiere and a press tour.

"They absolutely couldn't do it without their big star. But the theatre producers dug their heels in and said they wouldn't release Radcliffe unless Warner bought out the entire theatre for the nights they need him.

"Studio bosses are furious, but they have no choice but to pay up for five nights costing over 500,000 dollars," the source stated.

A Telecharge sales agent said that while tickets are being sold up to November 6, tickets for July 5 and 6 have "not been released", although they haven't yet been cancelled. Tickets for July 9 are currently on sale.

"Everything is fine, Dan is promoting the film and is happy to do so. With all productions there are scheduling issues but everything has all been worked out," Radcliffe's rep said.

"Warner Bros. is very supportive of Dan, and there is no issue," the rep added.

Topless kiss with Daniel was awkward

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe and his co-star Emma Watson have different opinions about their recent on-screen kiss.

While Radcliffe said it was 'vigorous and enjoyable', Watson found the experience 'awkward'.

The actress has admitted it was made tricky after producers told her at the last minute the snog was to be topless.

"I forgot how full-on it was until I saw the movie, and I was like, ''Blimey, where did that come from?'' It was really full-on," the Sun quoted her as saying.

"It was only the day before that they said, ''Oh, by the way, we hope it's all right, but we want you to be topless, and we're going to cover you in silver paint''.

"It was awkward enough as it was without the silver paint and the strapless bra, but whatever.

"It was like some weird social experiment," she said.

However, she added: "He is a good kisser. I can definitely vouch for that."

Daniel Radcliffe and Harry Potter, Always Forever?

Daniel Radcliffe had confessed that he might forever be recognized as the character of the wizard boy in Harry Potter movies. When we talked to him during the parade, Radcliffe admitted that it might be difficult for his avid fans to allow him to accept new roles while the Harry Potter series is coming to an end.

“I think to a certain extent it’s true that Harry will stick to me,” Radcliffe said. “I think in a lot of people’s minds I will always be him. It’s rather like the mafia, I guess. Once you’re in, you never get out.” The actor continued: “I don’t think I’m being typecast so far. But I would never be anything but proud to be associated with this film series forever.”

Radcliffe also explained that working with the same crew over a 10-year period helped him to discover his “passion” for acting. He said that he had learned several things while working with the people on set. For example are the immense passion about the film industry and a work ethic that he might not have had otherwise.

However, Radcliffe had also revealed that J.K. Rowling talked to him to say that she would not be composing Harry Potter books to any further extent. Latest comments from the author have headed to assumptions that there might be upcoming books about the boy wizard.

Deathly Hallows' will shake people up: Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe has said that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will "shake some people up".

The 21-year-old actor, who recently finished filming the final two movies of the wizard film franchise, admits he believes scenes where his titular character finds himself close to death after being beaten up by his arch-nemesis Voldemort will be difficult for some fans to watch, reports contactmusic.com.

"Voldemort does absolutely kick six bells out of me, and that's what makes it effective, the fact that Harry's a kid (and) having beaten out of him. If it's Voldemort killing an adult - well, he does that loads in the films," said Radcliffe.

"To see him brutalising and desperately trying to kill a 17-year-old boy is hopefully going to shake some people up," he added.
