Miss Venezuela wins Miss World crown

LONDON: Miss Venezuela, Ivian Lunasol Sarcos Colimenares, was crowned the 2011 winner of the Miss World beauty pageant at a glittering final ceremony in London on Sunday.

Miss Philippines, Gwendoline Gaelle Sandrine Ruais, was named the runner-up, while Miss Puerto Rico, Amanda Victoria Vilanova Perez, came third.

Sarcos Colimenares, 22, who works for a broadcasting company and has a degree in human resources, gasped and threw her hands to her face as she was announced the winner.

Some 113 beauty queens from Albania to Zimbabwe took their place on the stage, with the show being broadcast live to an estimated audience of more than one billion viewers in 150 countries. (AFP)

Miss World 2010 Nude Photo Scandal?

In October, Alexandria Mills became the first American woman to be crowned Miss World, but now rumors of a nude photo have surfaced on the Internet, potentially tarnishing the soft-spoken 18-year-old’s wholesome image. According to RadarOnline.com, the racy photo of Mills was taken this summer.
The celebrity gossip site reports that the picture was taken in what seems to be a bathroom and was originally sent to her boyfriend.

Mills took over the Miss World title from Kaiane Aldorino of Gibraltar, who was named Miss World 2009 at a ceremony last December.
Mills is the latest in a growing list of attractive celebrities to have private pics catch the public’s eye.
In 2009, Miss California USA Carrie Prejean sued pageant organizers for religious discrimination. But, according to NBC, the legal battle imploded when pageant organizers uncovered a sex tape featuring the Christian beauty queen.

That same year, Ashley Greene, the fresh-faced actress who played Alice Cullen in the box-office hit “Twilight,” went on the offensive when nude photos of the 22-year-old surfaced on the web. Greene’s lawyer confirmed the authenticity of the shots but threatened to sue anyone who published them, claiming displaying them was unlawful.

Alexandria Mills Made the United States Proud

Alexandria Mills has made the United States proud by becoming the 60th Miss World. She was crowned Miss World 2010 at the Finale held on October 30, in Sanya, China. Earlier, Alexandria was the first runner-up at the Miss World Beach and the second runner-up at the Miss World Top Model Fast-Track. She became the third Miss World winners from United States: 1973 MARJORIE WALLACE from INDIANA; 1990 GINA TOLLESON from SOUTH CAROLINA; 2010 ALEXANDRA MILLS from KENTUCKY.

Miss USA World 2010 Alexandria Mills was handpicked by the modeling agency Elite Models. She becomes the representative of the United State of America at the 2010 Miss World pageant without winning a national beauty pageant. Alexandria Mills of Louisville is a professional model with Elite Models. Since 2007, the representatives from the United States -Abigail McCary, Lane Lindell and Lisa Marie Kohrs- are part of this modeling agency.

The 18-year old beauty is a fresh High School Graduate and hopes to become a teacher. Her hobbies include traveling and playing the French horn and percussion in her free time. The 5ft 9. inch (1.75m) model is also quite passionate about singing.

Her motto in life is ‘The best things in life are worth waiting for, fighting for, believing in, and just never letting go of’.
