Neha says there is “a little bit of a jinx” on her visits to South Africa. “Every time I am scheduled for a visit to South Africa something or the other goes wrong at the last minute. So I’ve never really been to South Africa or Durban. This time I hope nothing goes wrong. ”

Neha will be the only representative from the Indian entertainment business rubbing shoulders with sports superstars and film personalities from across the world.

Neha Dhupia Creates History Down South

Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia may not have achieved much during her short career in Mumbai but she has created magic down south.

According to reports from the Telugu film industry, makers of her latest film 'Parama Veera Chakra' were so impressed by her voice (not her acting skills!) that they decided to make use of the husky Neha Dhupia baritone for their latest film. And the actress has just created history because this makes Neha Dhupia, the first lady from Bollywood to dub in her own voice for a Telugu film.

If the reports coming in from Tollywood are to be believed, the director of 'Parama Veera Chakra' describes Neha Dhupia's voice as "unmatchable". In fact, while the filming process for the upcoming project was still going on, the director was almost worried as to who will match up to the voice quality that the Bollywood actress possessed. But now the director can rest in peace as Neha Dhupia herself has come to his rescue. The ex Miss India will dub for her latest flick 'Parama Veera Chakra' in her own voice.

Neha Dhupia too, is very excited about the upcoming venture and is all geared up to mouth a completely unknown language. Till today, Neha Dhupia was regarded as one of the sexiest actresses in the Hindi film industry. 'Parama Veera Chakra' has introduced to us an entirely new talent of the actress.

Neha, Prachi add glamour to Bridal Week

Actresses Prachi Desai and Neha Dhupia added glamour to a show put together by designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacockthe at the ongoing Amby Valley India Bridal Week (AVIBW), which is low on Bollywood quotient.

While Prachi sashayed on the ramp in a nude tone net sari with sequins border and opened the show, Neha dazzled in a gold floral embroidered gown with a bare back moulded top and it was teamed up with red net dupatta (stole).

"Personally, I'm not fond of jewellery and heavy outfits, but Falguni and Shane have made a great outfit. They gave me these hues because they wanted to bring out the freshness in a young bride," Prachi told IANS.

The collection, which was named the Victorian Peacock Bridal collection, was a combination of bold prints in a melange of colours, sprinkled with crystals and feathers.

"The collection is outstanding. Just to wear these clothes, I wish I could become a bride more than once. Because the clothes are so nice that you can't decide which outfit would you like to wear for the wedding," said Neha.
The garments ranged from flared lehengas, saris and evening gowns in net, chiffon, satin and velvets. With antique crystal and gold sheeting the designers offered a fusion of ethnic embroidery with western silhouettes.

"Our show was for the modern bride who really wants to dress up and have fun and basically wants a modern garment with a traditional touch. A lot of effort has gone in co-ordinating the whole look," said Falguni.

Neha Dhupia makes her singing debut

Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia, who recently recorded a song with singer Kailash Kher for her forthcoming comedy caper "Phas Gaye Re Obama", is excited to make her debut in playback singing.

"I am super excited about the song and for getting an opportunity to sing along with a celebrated artist like Kailash Kher. It's not an everyday story for Bollywood actresses. I feel extremely lucky to be part of this project. Hope everybody likes it," Neha said.

Neha plays a cruel don called Munni Madam who hates men in the film.

"At first, Neha refused. But after a couple of music sittings she finally agreed to record. Surprisingly, she completed the recording in just one day which is commendable as she is not a professional singer," said Subhash kapoor, the director of the film.

Releasing Nov 26, the film also stars Rajat Kapoor, Manu Rishi Chadha, Sanjay Mishra, Sumit Nijhavan and Amole Gupte, among others.

Obama ‘trapped' by Bollywood comedy

Ahead of Barack Obama's visit to India next month, Bollywood has come up with a comedy kidnap movie whose plot is woven around the president's efforts to put the US economy back on track.

"Phas Gaya Re Obama" ("Obama is Trapped"), made on a budget of just 35 million rupees (800,000 dollars), is a comic tale of small time gangsters in northern India, whose criminal activities are hit by the global economic downturn.

The movie, distributed by Warner Bros, is ready for release but will only hit screens on November 26, several weeks after Obama's visit, which is scheduled for the beginning of the month.

"Phas Gaya Re Obama" has had to make way for a series of mega-budget movies which are traditionally released around the time of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, which falls on November 5.

There is no actual Obama character in the film, which stars model Neha Dhupia, who also appeared in a US television mini-series "Bollywood Hero" last year, and Rajat Kapoor.

The plot involves the abduction of a non-resident Indian who returns home to sell his ancestral property to repay debts in the United States after losing his job.

The gangsters look to Obama to revive the world economy and halt a sharp decline in their ransom earnings.

"It is a hilarious story of how the global recession affects kidnapping business of gangsters in a small town," writer and director Subhash Kapoor told reporters in India's entertainment capital Mumbai on Wednesday.

Denzil Dias, deputy managing director of Warner Bros in India, promised "one of the most original and funniest scripts in recent times."

It is not the first time Bollywood has co-opted the US president into the plot of one of its films.

His character also featured in the huge box-office hit "My Name is Khan," released in April, in which superstar Shah Rukh Khan played a US-resident Muslim Indian with Asperger's syndrome who marries a Hindu single mother.

After their marriage crumbles in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks, Khan sets out to meet Obama for help in winning her back.

Relations between India and the United States have steadily warmed over the past decade, with the two countries overcoming decades of mutual distrust during the Cold War era.

Obama last year welcomed Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the honour of the first state dinner of his presidency.

The Obama administration has vowed to build a broad global partnership with India, hailing the Asian country as "indispensable".

Dhupia 'wants to play action role'

Neha Dhupia has said that she would like to take on an action role, according to Real Bollywood.

The actress apparently revealed that she wants to portray a character similar to Tomb Raider's Lara Croft, who was played by Angelina Jolie.

Dhupia reportedly claimed that there are not enough "action queens" in Bollywood.

The star will next be seen in Vipul Shah's Action Replayy alongside Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Neha Dhupia's XXX factor

Bollywood siren Neha Dhupia walked the ramp for a fashion show by Gavin Minguel of 'Fashion' fame here Thursday night.

She also launched XXX energy drink that will be the principal sponsor of the Kolkata Knigh Riders (KKR) for Indian Premier League (IPL) 3.

"I have no favourites but since KKR needs all the support right now..., " said Neha when asked about her association with the brand.

Bollywood superstar and KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan was seen flaunting the XXX label on the back of his jersey in an audio-visual clip.

I was persuaded to throw condoms at crowd

Neha Dhupia says she had to be goaded quite a bit to throw a goody bag full of condoms and contraceptive pills at a college crowd here to promote her film "Raat Gayi Baat Gayi" but realised it was a great marketing strategy that sent out a positive message.

"We had gone to the Mood Indigo festival at IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) in Mumbai and I was asked to throw around this goody bag. I said 'No! I'm not throwing it'," Neha told. "But my producer (Rangita Nandy) insisted that 'You must because it's got everything to do with the film'.

"And I was like 'No! What are we trying to project?' But I guess that was her way of promoting the film. We are just mediums. So I said yes to it."

"Raat Gayi Baat Gayi", a Percept Picture Company (PPC) project, is about a one night stand. The movie has been directed by Saurabh Shukla and also features Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak and Ranvir Shorey.

The producers were trying to pull off a successful marketing stunt by throwing bags full of condoms, contraceptives, Disprin pills, et al, and Neha finally did it after realising that the exercise had a message attached to it.

"There was a message in all this - that if you have a hangover or if you are having a very drunk night - you must have contraceptives, protection, or antacid pills like Disprin. Everything was there in the bag. The message was - take it and go party. The bags had everything except cash to buy the alcohol," said the 29-year-old.

The former beauty queen says she was pleasantly surprised with the response from the young students.

"The way the students reacted to me was so beautiful. It was the first time I ever went up to the stage and sang. I sang like a rock star or at least I thought I was. They just grabbed the bags. But if at that time, even if I would have thrown the wire of the mike, they would have grabbed it. Actually, initially I was hesitant about throwing it, but I learnt how to laugh with it," she said.

After "Raat Gayi Baat Gayi", in which she plays a mysterious woman called Sophia, Neha is looking forward to movies like "Action Replay", "Raftaar" and "Pappu Can't Dance Saala".

She, however, admits that she would like to do a romantic movie opposite Bollywood's king of romance Shah Rukh Khan.

"I am looking forward to a nice romantic film which hasn't come my way yet. I am hoping to get that soon. I am a big Shah Rukh fan and I would like him to be in it but then it doesn't have to be him. It can be anybody. It's just that Shah Rukh is magnificent," she added.

Why Neha Dhupia is playing second fiddle to Katrina Kaif?

Neha Dhupia has been around for more than six years now and has done films as diverse as "Mithya" and "Julie". But she neither believes in boasting about her body of work nor is she keen to approach leading actors and filmmakers to rope her in for their films."This is the way I have been throughout my career. I am not the type who would go and tell everyone what I have done in the past," Neha told. After having debuted opposite Ajay Devgn in "Qayamat" (2003), she has worked in close to 30 movies. "What's the point in doing that when you have your work to speak for itself? This is not to say that I am less ambitious than anyone. I work as hard as anyone else. It's just that I can't serve myself on a platter," she said. This is the reason why she is not complaining even if she is playing a supporting role in films like "Singh Is Kinng" and just released "De Dana Dan" with Katrina Kaif as the leading lady opposite Akshay Kumar."There is a thin distinction between lead and supporting roles today. You may not be a romantic lead in a film, but then you have to see the kind of value you bring to a film."For example, when Vipul approached me for 'Singh Is Kinng', I asked him why he was giving me that role. When he told me that he could visualise only me to be doing that role, I took it as a backhanded compliment."Same held true for "De Dana Dan" where Priyadarshan felt that he could see a naughty opportunist girl in her. In the film, Neha plays a club singer who has a 'bindaas' attitude towards life and is a 'huge advantage taker'. "I am happy that he felt so. My role is quite spunky in 'De Dana Dan'. There is a lot of spark in it."When it comes to commercial cinema, I have to thank people like Vipul, whose sensibilities I completely agree with, and Priyan Sir, with whom I have worked in 'Chup Chup Ke' and 'Garam Masala' earlier. They have always approached me whenever there is something good in the offing," Neha said. However, she has the trio of Rajat Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla and Vinay Pathak to thank for the complete shift in mindset that she went through at a crucial phase of her career. "These are the people responsible for opening up different avenues for me. By working in movies like 'Mithya', 'Raat Gayi Baat Gayi', 'I Am 24' and 'Pappu Can't Dance Saala', there is an altogether different dimension that I have been able to explore."I owe a lot to them," said Neha who is happy to be juggling between hardcore commercial mainstream movies and new age offbeat cinema.

Bollywood celebrities connecting fans on social networking sites

Like many other Bollywood personalities, actress Neha Dhupia too is online, connecting to her friends and fans on a social networking site. In fact she is so regularly online changing her status frequently. However she also seeks opinion from them. Recently she asked people which hairstyle she should go for. Neha, who was not able to decide a haircut, posted a query on the website. Many answered her back like don’t cut her hair too short. So the actress picked the most common opinion and is now ready to chop her tresses.
