Sean Penn's Haiti charity receives $2.25m grant

Sean Penn's Haitian relief charity has been given a $2.25m (£1.43m) grant by the World Bank.
The actor's J/P Haitian Relief Organisation was founded in 2010 after a massive earthquake left thousands dead and displaced many others.

Penn's group will use the money to help more than 500 Haitians return home by repairing or rebuilding damaged houses, reports The AP.

The World Bank made the grant as part of its work with the Haiti Reconstruction Fund, which aims to help 500,000 displaced Haitians to get back on their feet.

Penn has been one of the most vocal advocates for increased aid to Haiti since last year's earthquake.

In January, Penn claimed that he'll spend the rest of his life trying to help the Haitian people recover.

Scarlett Johansson dating Sean Penn?

The 26-year-old actress is said to be “smitten” with the 50-year-old actor after hooking up with him in January while she was staying at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont hotel while she filmed ‘We Bought a Zoo’ with Matt Damon.

A source told the new issue of Us Weekly magazine: "Their first hook-up was in Scarlett's Bungalow. she is smitten with him."

Scarlett – who split from husband Ryan Reynolds in December after two years of marriage – and Sean began their friendship when she was planning to fly out to Haiti to help people affected by the two earthquakes in January 2010.

The source added: "Scarlett first reached out to Sean when she was planning to visit Haiti with Oxfam. she knew Sean was living there in a tent and turned to him for advice."

Although she didn’t end up going on the trip she and the ‘Milk’ star – who is spending most of his free time on the Caribbean island, where he has been undertaking charity work since the disaster – are said to have developed feelings for each other.

Sean was previously married to Madonna, while his divorce from actress Robin Wright – mother of his two children Dylan, 19, and Hopper, 17 – was finalised in July after 14 years of marriage.

Sean Penn dating model Jessica White?

Sean Penn has reportedly been spotted kissing his ex, model Jessica White.

A source told the New York Post that they saw the couple sharing drinks at the Rose Bar inside Manhattan's Gramercy Park Hotel.

"They kissed, sat close and ignored everyone," the insider said.

The source added that "[Jessica] mentioned she was back on with 'her man'". The couple apparently had dinner with Spike Lee and his wife the next night.

However, a friend of the model said that "it's not true" that she is dating Penn again.

We have to save Haiti

Veteran actor Sean Penn is heading back to Haiti to help the survivors of the destructive earthquake last month.

The 'Milk' star, who's also an activist, was among the first celebrities to go to Haiti to aid the relief effort and insists he can't wait to get back.

"We have to save Haiti," said Penn, before leaving for Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince, reports dailystar.

During his recent three-week stint in Haiti, Penn slept in a tent and survived on just a few hours of sleep a night.

He said: "Relocation is, right now, the primary focus."

The actor wants more people to join him. "You can come to Haiti and do work if you're a doctor or a relief worker or if you can write a cheque...Everything helps," he said.
