Tania Zaetta pleads not guilty to charges arising from row at nightclub

Bollywood actress Tania Zaetta has pleaded not guilty after she was charged with obstructing police and public nuisance for an incident that took place allegedly after a wild night out in Australia.

Zaetta, 40, who was accompanied by her mother and Byron Bay-based lawyer John Weller, arrived at Southport Magistrates Court wearing a short white dress and suede high heels and sparkling silver nail polish.

The actress pleaded not guilty to both charges that arose after an altercation at Vanity nightclub in Surfers Paradise in the early hours of March 21.

The case was adjourned until May 9, and outside court, Zaetta said she was “looking forward to proving her innocence and clearing her name”.

“There’s no wrongdoing here at all,” the Daily Telegraph quoted her as saying.

“As far as myself and my family are concerned, there’s been some very hurtful and misleading and false and incorrect reports in the media and I also look forward to correcting those,” she added.

Weller said he had requisitioned security camera footage which he was confident would help prove his client innocent.

Tania Zaetta wept in prison after nightclub arrest

Former Bollywood actress Tania Zaetta has revealed that she broke down in tears in prison after being arrested at a Gold Coast nightclub in Australia.

The TV host and Australian actress, 41, was charged with being a public nuisance and obstructing police after a disturbance outside the nightclub last Monday.

The former ‘Who Dares Wins’ host said she wept when her night in the cell meant that she left her father, who is battling prostate cancer, stranded at the airport.

"That was the worst part, the most upsetting part, not being there for him. He was calling me after I left a message on his phone that something had happened, but I couldn''t go and get him," News.com.au quoted Zaetta, as telling Woman''s Day.

Zaetta will face court early next month.

Tania Zaetta's charity 'Peace For The Children' under investigation

Bollywood actress Tania Zaetta's charity Peace For The Children is under investigation.

The confirmation that the Office of Fair Trading is investigating her charity comes just days after Zaetta, 40, was arrested in Surfers Paradise, the Herald Sun reported.

There are allegations that the actress could be asked questions regarding her company asking for donations for war-affected children while not being registered as an official charity.

Zaetta launched the company at a Gold Coast nightclub in 2009 with now former co-director Grant Hilton, citing her entertainment tours to conflict zones as her inspiration for wanting to help disadvantaged children.

The company’s website, peaceforthechildren.com, claims PFTC is a registered overseas aid fund that provides funding for projects in Afghanistan, Tibet and East Timor.

The website thanks celebrities including ‘Underbelly’ star Damien Walshe-Howling, Warwick Capper, Jeff Fenech and Ky Hurst for helping raise 30,000 dollars at a December nightclub fundraiser on the Gold Coast that allowed “Tibetan children in exile in India to enjoy presents for Xmas”.

A spokesman for the Office of Fair Trading has confirmed the Bundall-based Peace For The Children was not a registered charity in Queensland and as such was not authorised to publicly fundraise in the state.

He verified the fundraising activities of Peace For the Children Ltd were under investigation and declined to comment further until the case was finalised.

PFTC does not appear on an AusAID list of registered overseas aid funds approved by the Australian Taxation Office.

An Australian Business Registry search also shows the company is not entitled to tax-deductible gifts or concessions.

Australian Bollywood actress Tania Zaetta arrested

SYDNEY: Australian Bollywood actress Tania Zaetta was arrested Monday for obstructing police and public nuisance over an alleged disturbance at a Queensland nightclub.

Zaetta, who recently moved back to Australia after several years based overseas, was detained in Surfers Paradise early Monday, the Gold Coast Bulletin said.

"It seems a 41-year-old woman from New South Wales was arrested for obstructing police and also public nuisance," a spokesman for Queensland police told AFP, without naming the woman.

According to a statement released by her management, Zaetta will "protest her innocence to the charges and strenuously defend the matters in Court".

"She looks forward to mounting her defence and to clearing this matter up through the appropriate channels," the statement said.

"Any inference or suggestion through media reports that alcohol has played any role in this matter are ludicrous and baseless."

Zaetta rose to prominence in Australia as a host of the game show Who Dares Wins, a program modelled on its British counterpart which required her to perform daredevil stunts.

More recently, she has worked on a number of Bollywood productions including the Charlie's Angels-style hit "Mr Black, Mr White" and one featuring Indian megastar Amitabh Bachchan "Bunty aur Babli".

She is due to face court on April 4.
