Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis split after 14 years

Actor Johnny Depp has separated from his partner of 14 years, French singer and actress Vanessa Paradis, a representative for the actor said on Tuesday.

“Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated. Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children,” Depp’s publicist Robin Baum said in a statement.

The announcement follows widespread reports earlier this year that the couple’s relationship was on the rocks, although the Pirates of the Caribbean star denied rumours of a split to British newspaper The Sun in May.

Depp, 49, began dating Paradis, 39, in 1998, following his split from British supermodel Kate Moss. The couple appeared together in Roman Polanski’s 1999 film The Ninth Gate.

Depp and Paradis have two children, Lily-Rose, 13, and 9-year-old Jack, and set up homes in France, Los Angeles and on a private island in the Caribbean.

The couple never married, although Depp has been married once before, to Lori Anne Allison between 1983 and 1985, and had a high-profile relationship with actress Winona Ryder in the early 1990s.

Depp rose to fame in the 1980s in the Fox television series 21 Jump Street, leading to films including Donnie Brasco, Chocolat and the Pirates franchise.

The actor is also known for his numerous collaborations with director Tim Burton in movies such as Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow and Alice in Wonderland. Source:http://www.timeslive.co.za

Johnny Depp, Vanessa Paradis near split: report

LOS ANGELES: Johnny Depp's 14-year romance with French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis has hit the rocks, People magazine claimed on Wednesday, and the couple are living largely separate lives.

In a cover story for this week's issue of People called "Love Gone Wrong," the celebrity magazine quoted several unnamed sources as saying the pair's relationship is nearing an end.

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star, 48, and Paradis, 39, never married but have been together since 1998 and have two children. They divide their time between France and the United States.

People magazine noted that the pair have not appeared on the red carpet together for more than a year, missing both the Cannes film festival in May 2011 and the Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills on Sunday, where Depp was a presenter.

According to multiple sources, they are all but officially finished.

Depp's representatives did not return calls for comment, which hits newsstands on Friday.

Johnny Depp 'doesn't plan to marry Paradis'

Johnny Depp has remarked that he does not need a marriage certificate to feel bonded with his longtime partner Vanessa Paradis.

During an interview with Extra, Depp insisted that he has never felt the urge to tie the knot.

"I never found myself needing that piece of paper," he said. "Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart. You don't need somebody to say, okay you're married."

The actor admitted that he would only ever consider officially marrying Paradis if it proved to be important to his partner, but joked that he would be reluctant for his girlfriend to take his last name.

"If Vanessa wanted to get hitched, why not… But the thing is, I'd be so scared of ruining her last name. She's got such a good last name," he jested.

Depp will next star in The Tourist, which is released on December 10 in US and UK cinemas.
