Brad Pitt set to quit acting at 50

SYDNEY: Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt has revealed he plans to quit acting in three years, but the 47-year-old admitted he is not sure what he will do after ditching a career which made him a household name.

During an interview with an Australian current affairs show in Tokyo to promote his latest movie "Moneyball", the American actor was asked how much longer he would like to "do your business for".

"Three years," he said.

When the reporter pressed him on what would happen then, he replied: "Hell if I know. I am really enjoying the producing side and development of stories and putting those pieces together."

Pitt also revealed that he and partner Angelina Jolie were open to expanding their brood of six children, in the interview screened on Australia's "60 Minutes".

"You know, I don't know that we're finished. I don't know yet," Pitt said, adding that he enjoyed the chaos of having children around despite the lack of sleep this entailed.

"I mean, because those late nights are so fun when one of them's up or those mornings when they get up and make pancakes or something. That's what it's about."

Pitt said his family with Jolie had changed his career, and influenced the kinds of films he wanted to make.

"If I'm choosing a film now, I want it to be maybe less immature than things I have done in the past," he said.

"I'm very conscious, when they're adults I want it to mean something to them. I want them to think, 'Dad's alright'. It changes everything. Everything."

The actor, who rose to prominence in 1991's "Thelma and Louise" and went on to star in "Ocean's Eleven" and "Fight Club", said he had not dealt well with fame in the past and was worried about media attention on his children.

"Sure I worry. It's the only thing I get hot about, I'm ready to fight about," he said.

"But on the other hand you know, it's a trade-off, like anything.

"And we, these guys, I'm so happy for them, because they get to see the world. And their lives are so enriched by it. The privacy issues are something we're always battling."

The actor, who has received critical acclaim for "Moneyball", said he was content with life.

"I think happiness is overrated, truthfully. I do. I think sometimes you're happy, sometimes you're not. There's too much pressure to be happy," he said.

"Satisfied, at peace, those would be more goals for myself." (AFP)

I love cinema and I'm still watching films I was watching 20 years ago. Making films that stand, that's the goal," Pitt said. The actor who stars in new baseball movie Moneyball also said, although, he doesn't know much about the sport but loves playing games with his sons."I know very little about baseball besides the fact I took one in the face when I was in junior high. Eighteen stitches was the result of that incident. I like to play ball with my boys though, throw the ball around, these kind of things. I like American football and football-football," Pitt added.

Stylist to Brad Pitt: Lose the Beard!

With his scraggly gray beard more unkempt than ever, Brad Pitt looked unrecognizable as he walked through Nice International Airport in France Thursday.

So what's with the out-of-control facial fuzz?

Take a look at all of Brad Pitt's explorations in facial hair!

Pitt, 45, is likely "marking a transition or marking a new stage in his career," says Dr. Alan Peterkin, psychiatrist and author of One Thousand Beards: A Cultural History of Facial Hair.

Peterkin tells Usmagazine.com that a beard allows a man "to change his public face. Most men growing facial hair around his age are being ironic. It's a bit of a wink of the eye; 'I'm not taking this too seriously and nor should you.'"

Angelina Jolie's man -- who has often sported facial hair -- also may be "tired of being a part of one of the most beautiful couples in the world. He wants to try a new look."

Check out these stars before they were hunks!

Although Peterkin tells Us the look may appear "desperate on another man's face," Pitt's facial structure makes it work. "With a face like Brad's, you can do almost anything," he tells Us. "It is such a well put-together, symmetrical face."

But celebrity hairstylist Sally Hershberger isn't a fan.

"I don't love gray facial hair, especially on someone as handsome as Brad," she tells Us.

Now we know where he gets it! See son Maddox's wildest hairstyles!

Although she says "he has some reasoning behind his look," she suggests that he trim it and dye it all brown.

Still, she tells Us, "I would prefer for him to shave it completely."

Brad Pitt hints at retirement

Los Angeles - Brad Pitt has hinted he wants to quit acting.
The 45-year-old actor - who raises six children with partner Angelina Jolie - feels he has achieved almost everything he wants to do in his career and doesn't believe there are as many possibilities for him as he gets older.
"I think acting is a younger man's game; there are fewer interesting parts for older people and we all get older. But I feel like I've done it. I've kind of had my time and that's quite freeing. Of course there are still acting dreams left for me. But I'll do them first and then we'll talk about them," he said.
Brad and Angelina - who have homes in France, California and New Orleans - move their family with them wherever in the world they are working on a movie and the Inglourious Basterds star insists it is a lifestyle with many benefits for their children.
"Everywhere is interesting in its own way, each place has its own feel and something to offer: you pick up something, the kids are picking up something. They have this world view which we are very proud and happy that we are able to provide.
"We get peace in our lives. We got out here a couple of days early with the family and we get to hang out in a place in Provence. We're pretty good at it. You carve out that time for the family. Do we get a little silence with the kids? No, not that kind of silence - silence is over at home, but we like that chaos," he added.

Brad Pitt works on his $70 million French chateau

Brad Pitt wants to bring up his ever-growing family in France. Pitt and Angelina Jolie are leasing a huge 1000 acre property, Chateau Miraval, in the south of the country and are said to have fallen in love with the area.

Perhaps it is no surprise then that the couple are spending some serious cash on making this 35 room house, valued at $70 million, their home. A reported $5 million is being spent on renovations and on adding the very necessary security features to the entire estate.

It is Brad who has taken the lead on this project while Angelina has been concentrating on brushing up her flying skills in Burbank, California.

Brad flew into Marseille, France this week for a one-day stop over to check on the status of his family pad and is said to be taking a very personal interest in the design aspect, even designing the furniture himself.

Angelina is a lucky girl to have bagged such a multi-talented guy.
