Breast cancer scares Elizabeth Hurley

Elizabeth Hurley has revealed that she is "really, really scared" of getting breast cancer and fears the worst whenever she gets herself screened for the disease.

The 46-year-old actress says that she panics while waiting for the test results after the she is screened because her grandmother died due to breast cancer, reports Contactmusic.

In a blog for HuffingtonPost.co.uk, the actress wrote, "For 364 days of the year I can speak and think rationally about breast cancer, and for many of those days I'm actively fundraising actively fundraising or trying to raise awareness about the disease. But on day 365, I'm in a panic."

"For on day 365, I get my annual mammogram and, in between the procedure and waiting for the nurse to come back with the result, I get really, really scared.

"In the 20 minutes or so that it takes for the doctor to study the images, my imagination takes me to dark and frightening places and I generally wind myself up into a frenzy.

"Everything bad flashes through my mind and invariably I end up seeing my little orphaned son crying at my funeral, his mother having lost her fight against breast cancer..."

The actress also admitted that she breaks down with relief whenever she gets the all clear but knows that, it doesn't mean she will be safe from the disease forever.

"I have stumbled out of the hospital five times, sobbing with relief, knowing I have a clear mammogram and another year to fight the good fight against the disease. I'm not a victim myself. Yet," she wrote.

Elizabeth Hurley engaged to cricket star Shane Warne

LOS ANGELES: British model and actress Elizabeth Hurley is engaged to retired Australian cricketer Shane Warne, the couple confirmed via Twitter.

Hurley was photographed by British newspapers wearing an engagement ring Saturday at the Dunhill Links Championship golftournament in Scotland, in which Warne was participating.

Hurley, 46 and Warne, 42, thanked well-wishers Saturday via Twitter and Warne tweeted Sunday he proposed "privately" and it "was very romantic."

The couple have been quietly dating since late 2010, after Hurley separated from her husband of four years, Indian textile businessman Arun Nayar. They divorced in June.

The "Gossip Girl" actress famously dated British actor Hugh Grant for more than 10 years, and also has a son from a previous relationship with film producer Steve Bing.

Elizabeth Hurley 'coping well after divorce'

Elizabeth Hurley has said that she is coping quite well following her recent divorce from Arun Nayar.
Speaking to People at a Harper's Bazaar event on Tuesday in New York, the 45-year-old said that she is moving forward and is spending time on her farm.

"I think I'm coping quite well, actually. We're all quite happy right now and trying to move forward," Hurley said.

The model-actress also explained that she is used to being in the spotlight, but she knows how to keep parts of her life private.

She explained: "I've been around for a long time, and I think I'm just used to it at this point. It can be intrusive but I'm pretty good at getting privacy when I need it."

Hurley recently revealed that she would consider moving in with former boyfriend Hugh Grant.

Remembering Liz’ eyes...

Everett Collection In death, as in life, it is her eyes that haunt. After Hollywood’s grande dame Elizabeth Taylor passed away, people paid their online respects, searching out her biography, baby pictures, good works (AIDS foundation), her relationships both familial (children, Richard Burton) and famous (Michael Jackson, Andy Warhol). Yet most unique were those eyes, and people wanted another look into them as they sought out “elizabeth taylor eyes,” “elizabeth taylor violet eyes pictures,” and “elizabeth taylor’s eye close up.”

Could someone’s eyes truly be purple? If photos or her namesake perfume — Violet Eyes, which debuted just last spring — weren’t proof enough, eyewitness accounts certainly testify to those riveting orbs. A remembrance by Hollywood Reporter film critic Todd McCarthy recalled a meeting in the 1970s, when the actress had essentially retired from the big screen. “What should abruptly stop me in my tracks,” he wrote, “but a pair of eyes unlike I’ve ever beheld, before or since; deep violet eyes of a sort withheld from ordinary mortals that were suddenly looking up into mine from mere inches away.”

David Stratton, a film critic for the Australian, also swooned in a 1973 encounter following a festival premiere of her movie “Night Watch”: “I was ushered into her presence at the official reception and found myself transfixed by her famous violet eyes. I have never seen eyes of that color before or since and I don’t believe cinemagoers were able to appreciate how remarkable they were.”

Eye of the Beholder

Violet is indeed a rarity, more so than green eyes, although theories as to what makes them purple vary. Color, of course, is determined by how much melanin pigment the eye has and, to get really scientific, those variations in single nucleotide polymorphisms (thankfully shortened to SNPS) near the OCA2 gene, which are responsible for the color of eyes, hair, and skin.

Then again, the simplest explanation would be the same one her doctor gave her mother when describing baby Elizabeth’s double row of eyelashes: a “mutation,” according to the 1996 book Elizabeth.

Those eyes inspired longing, envy, and a few beauty products: Chicago optical company Wesley-Jensen created violet contact lenses in the 1980s. Before their debut, a W-J spokesperson told The New York Times, “pictures of Elizabeth Taylor are pasted all over our R&D lab.”

A California ocularist, one of the few in the world to create artificial eyeballs, fulfilled one patient’s request for “Elizabeth Taylor eyes.”

If you wondered what the scent of violet eyes might be, that would be “light shades of purple rose and violet peony, combined with velvety accents of white peach” with a “voluptuous blend of cedar wood and amber to convey the power, sensuality, and mystery of Elizabeth Taylor’s eyes.”

Hurley blames Indian media for split

Elizabeth Hurley is miffed. After losing out on both her Indian husband Arun Nayar and estranged beau Shane Warne, the model-actress has ranted her anger at the Indian media for running gossip mills fulltime that led to her devastated marriage.

Though her affair was first reported in the British dailies, Liz, as she is fondly called by her fans and in media, is red with fury that the Indian journo's "fictional" stories about her have left her empty-handed.

"The Indian press has to take top marks for fiction," she tweeted.

Having realised that the Australian spinner, infamous for his philandering ways, was two-timing her by sending racy texts to another woman, the 45-year-old Liz dumped him and begged for forgiveness from her Indian textile tycoon husband.

Nayar, 46, who tied the knot with Liz in India three years ago amidst great pomp and show, on the other hand, is determined to call it splits for good with a quick divorce.

He was recently even spotted kissing a mystery woman in public as they left the posh Scott's restaurant in Mayfair, West London. And taking her hubby's side, the fallen wife has now tweeted: "Sorry to rain on your parade Gossip Press, but Arun's 'mystery brunette' is his brother's wife (sic)."

The "Bedazzled" actress had earlier confirmed the break-up of her marriage with Nayar after being caught red-handed canoodling Warne, 41, at a restaurant here. They were later said to have spent two nights together in a London hotel.

Soon after, she put out a statement on Twitter that she and Nayar had separated "months before" her affair became public. But she didn't forget to keep a door open for herself at the Nayar's by praising her husband's bonding with her son Damian.

"Painful, sad days. Arun and I separated for private reasons but FTR (for the record) he has been a great father to our son Damian and will always be in his life.(sic)," she had posted.

She also took a turn later and slammed the divorce speculations brewing in the media.

"Bored now of silly speculations: no one is divorcing anyone yet, no one is fighting over money and I have no plans to go to Australia. Enough!" she had tweeted.

Elizabeth Hurley confirms marriage split

Elizabeth Hurley has confirmed her split from husband Arun Nayar following allegations of an affair with cricketer Shane Warne.

The Austin Powers actress took to Twitter this afternoon to clarify her marital status after The News of the World exposed her secret meetings with the Australian sportsman and their two-day break in a luxury London hotel.

She wrote: "Not a great day. For the record, my husband Arun & I separated a few months ago. Our close family & friends were aware of this."

Hurley began dating Nayar back in 2002 and married the Indian tycoon in 2007.

Outside the top ten, a previously unheard Michael Jackson track featuring Akon entitled 'Hold My Hand' becomes the second-highest new entry of the week at 11, while Alexandra Burke's 'The Silence' also makes a respectable placing at 18.

Meanwhile, festive-themed tune 'Christmas Lights' by Coldplay climbs five places to 13, while YouTube star Alexa Goddard gains six places with a Cher Lloyd-inspired cover of 'Turn My Swag On' at 20.

Elizabeth Hurley sets new world record

Elizabeth Hurley has spoken of her delight at helping to set a new world record.

The 45-year-old actress illuminated the most historic landmarks in 24 hours by turning 39 of the world's greatest sights pink in aid of an Estee Lauder breast cancer awareness initiative.

Hurley flicked the switch from the top of the Empire State Building, lighting up the New York attraction and other landmarks including the Sydney Opera House and the Taj Mahal in order to gain entry into the Guinness Book Of World Records.

Speaking at the event, Hurley told WENN: "We are thrilled to be creating a new Guinness World Record commemorating an important initiative started by Evelyn Lauder 11 years ago. It's an honour and privilege to travel around the world with Evelyn, illuminating landmarks in pink lights and sharing our awareness with everyone we meet.

"It's wonderful to see the global impact that these illuminated landmarks have, motivating women to see their doctors regularly, perform a monthly breast self-exam, and get an annual mammogram if they're over the age of 40. Our goal is to spread this message to women in all corners of the world."

Last year, Hurley helped raise money for domestic violence charity Women's Aid by donating pictures of her son for a collector's stamp.
