Actress Eva Mendes, who made her directorial debut with "California Romanza", feels this is the right time for women to turn director.
Mendes showed her movie starring Christina Ricci at the annual Glamour Reel Moments event in Los Angeles earlier this year, reports aceshowbiz.com.
"I loved the whole experience. I believe we need more women behind the camera. This year, with Kathryn Bigelow winning an Oscar (for 'Hurt Locker') and Angelina Jolie directing a film, it's a great time for women to step behind the camera," she said.
"I certainly felt very empowered by it when I made my film. It's about time we heard more women's voices and points of view in cinema because it's a male-dominated industry. It's starting to equal out a bit, though, which is exciting."

'I'll never get married'
Eva Mendes has revealed that walking down the aisle does not appeal to her.
The actress, who has been with her partner George Augusto since 2002, said that she is "bored" by the idea of marriage.
She told Hello: "No, no, no. I don't know if I want children, but the idea of marriage sounds very boring to me. I have to be honest. And no disrespect, because I think marriage is a beautiful institution.
"I am extremely romantic but I think there is that little rebel inside me that is anti-establishment. It's just one more fun thing I can rebel against."
Despite marriage not appealing to her personally, Mendes admitted that she loves to attend other people's weddings.
She explained: "I love going to a wedding. I do this thing - I call it wedding dancing. I don't know what happens to me but I just dance in a way that I've never danced before. I'm the best person to have at your wedding but I just don't ever want to be the actual person getting married."

No Problem With Nudity
She’s always been easy on the eyes, and Eva Mendes isn’t afraid to show off her fit form on the silver screen.
During a recent interview with W magazine, the “We Own the Night” actress confessed she’s not shy about stripping down for the camera.
“I’ve never had a problem with nudity, but I don’t put it out there without a reason. I’m not an exhibitionist. But, honestly, for my art I’ll do anything almost. I’ll go there.”
“I know I walk a fine line between being a respected actor and being what they call a sex symbol. But I’ve never felt objectified. Nothing you see me do is an accident. I might act like it’s an accident but the opposite is true. I’m incredibly calculated when it comes to my career.”

Eva Mendes Nipple Slip
Good nipple slips are hard to come by, so when we come across a top notch Eva Mendes nipple slip, we have to pay special attention to it.

Eva Mendes Topless
This is not the first time that a naked Eva Mendes has posed to promote Calvin Klein's fragrances. But it's indeed the most revealing.
Despite last year's CK perfume's campaign not being aired by American TV networks for being too risqué, the firm has launched a new marketing crusade this year where Eva Mendes shows her assets in an effort to convince us all that if a girl smells like CK, she's as sexy as Eva herself...
Hard to believe since this Cuban-American actress is one of the hottest babes in Hollywood nowadays. But hell, if it sells perfumes and it shows Eva Mendes' tits, why not believe what the Calvin Klein campaign tells us?
