Sameera relives her Patna mob fury

This was her first visit to Patna. And Sameera Reddy would never forget it. On Sunday evening the actress flew down on a private jet with her entourage to perform for a live show in the largest open-air venue in Bihar, the Gandhi Maidan, at a function organized by a television channel Mahua.

It's an experience Sameera would never forget. Neither would her anxious and frightened parents in Mumbai who until she boarded her flight back to Mumbai the next afternoon kept calling anxiously to make sure their daughter was all right.

Shaken but not defeated Sameera said on the morning after the trauma, “You can't blame my parents for being scared for me. I was thoroughly shaken by what I happened. I played it down for my parents' sake. But I'd never like anyone to go through what me and my troupe dancers went through.”

So what exactly happened at the venue? According to Sameera, “I flew down excitedly to Patna on Saturday to perform at the channel's show. I had never been to the city. And I must say I loved the people and the place, no matter what happened later...

At the venue of the performance me and my troupe were backstage all charged to do a medley of chartbusters when suddenly pandemonium broke out in the open-air venue. We at first thought it was just the audience getting excited. And I quelled by troupe dancers' anxieties arguing that it is the publics excitement for which we artistes crave when we go on stage.”

But then the “excitement” got out of hand. Reliving those nightmarish moments Sameera says, “I was determined to go on stage, no matter how excitable the audience. But the next thing I heard backstage was the public from the back in the audience had broken the barricade in the secluded section because they wanteda closer look at the stage. They were breaking chairs, pelting stones and setting the barricades on fire.”

That's when Sameera realized the show was over. “The organizers came backstage and told me I've to leave immediately. But there was no way to get out!

The entire place was on a rampage. In a panic I was given a veil to cover my head and we pushed through the crowd. Believe me, that walk from backstage to my care of three minutes was the longest journey of my life.

Anything could've happened if I was recognized.I was put in one of the managing committee's small cars and I hid in backseat. Though my hotel was five minutes away from the venue it took me a good thirty minutes to reach the hotel. There were mobs pounding on the car.”

Her ordeal over Sameera then sat in the relative safety of her room agonizing over the fate of her troupe dancers. “Those twelve girls were still in the middle of the chaos. They were hysterical. I was on the phone with them until they got out.”

The car carrying Sameera's chorus dancers was smashed. “The windshield of the Sumo was broken. The girls were hysterical. They somehow managed to reach the hotel. We spent the night huddled together in my room not having slept a wink.”

Incredibly Sameera is not put off from Bihar because of the experience. “What happened would happen anywhere. I am not a stranger to mob mentality. I've performed at other volatile places.

That is why I always go in a large entourage and with at least two dozen security guards. Nowadays we girls from Bollywood perform at live shows constantly. There's no harm in that. But yes, there's an elment of risk. We need to be well-protected.”

But Sameera is game to return to Patna. “Oh anytime! I love the place. But next time I'd make sure the security bandobast is impeccable.”

Tanushree Dutta who accompanied Sameera to perform at the venue escaped the mob fury by a hair's breadth.

Says Tanushree, “I'm no stranger to Patna. I've been here before and there's always that lurking fear of mobs getting out of control. So I always travel my with own security from Mumbai. My performance was over when the mobs went berserk.

Poor Sameera got the brunt of it. I had seen the size of the venue the Gandhi Maidan and I knew the number of people it could accommodate. I was trembling in apprehension the whole day. My worst fears came true. But I escaped the chaos.”

Sameera Reddy 'forced to abandon show'

Sameera Reddy has been forced to abandon a stage show after audience members broke through barriers and started to break equipment.

The Race star had been due to perform at an open-air venue in Patna when the disruption began, Mumbai Mirror reports.

The actor told the newspaper: "At the venue my troupe and I were waiting backstage when suddenly I heard about a commotion in the audience.

"At first I thought they were just excited but, within minutes, I was told that the situation was beginning to get out of hand."

The concert, which had been organised by a local television channel in Bihar was called off, as organisers began to fear for the safety of the performers.

"They were breaking chairs, pelting stones and setting the barricades on fire. The organisers came backstage and ordered me to leave immediately," Reddy outlined.

The actress was in the UK last month working on the action film Tezz with Anil Kapoor.

Sameera Reddy Shows Off Biking Skills To Fans

Sameera Reddy is hot and who wouldn't agree with that? But did you know that the actress was a good biker too? Well, Sameera Reddy believes in maintaining a regular contact with her fans through the various social networking sites that have invaded the internet world these days and the Bollywood actress seems so interested in interacting with fans that she recently unveiled a video sharing channel.

According to reports circulating in the media, Sameera Reddy will from now post her own videos on the channel so that her fans can get an access to her daily routine and the things she loves doing.

It was on the video sharing channel that the Bollywood sex siren posted a clip of herself atop a bike. Sameera Reddy can be seen riding a bike and showing off her skills on the two wheeler on the streets of none other than Mumbai! And if this was not enough, Sameera Reddy has also said in a statement to the media that she will henceforth provide every detail of what is going on in her life by keeping her video sharing channel active and updated. Now that must be music to all ears who adore Sameera Reddy.

It is true that the sexy lady of Bollywood has not been seen on screen for quite a long time now. But with her video sharing channel being launched, it is also true that her fans can easily get their daily dose of Sameera Reddy whenever they want.

Sameera Reddy's mother is fed up with her

Many protective mothers out there with orthodox mindsets would be worried to see their grown up daughters returning home late in the night after a round of parties.

In case of Sameera Reddy, it is different though. Worried that her daughter could well be loosing out on love when she is at her prime in life, she insists that Sameera gets hitched to someone, hit the dating scene in a big way and generally have fun.

"Can you imagine that", questions Sameera with mock humor, "My mom keeps telling me that I should find a guy for myself. She is fed up of me that all I do to spend my idle time is to travel to different places in the world. She really wants me to get hitched now."

Sameera could well be one of the very few long standing single women around. She may not admit it but the fact remains that after spending two years without someone special in tow, Sameera herself won't quite mind a man entering her life pronto.

"I haven't dated for two years now", she sighs, "It is so difficult to find a guy in India; especially in Mumbai. More so because I am an independent strong woman with a strong personality.

Here in Mumbai, everyone knows you for who are you so it is impossible to judge whether someone is being good to you just due to the on - screen personality that you have. Of course, it would be great to get hitched to someone special. Well, the wait continues. Anyone there?"

Elaborating on her strong personality coming in way of men reaching out to her. "That actually becomes a bit unnerving for men", she says in self admiration, "Kya karein, most of the Indian guys want their mother in their girls; I definitely can't be one."

Currently scorching the scene with item number 'Ishq' in 'Aakrosh' (directed by Priyadarshan), Sameera doesn't regret her period of being single though. "I have an extremely active life outside of Bollywood. I am not into filmy parties.

In fact tomorrow if I date someone, he has to be someone far away from the industry. Till then people can continue to speculate around my link ups. Hard luck for them though because they would be able to write something only if they see something", she laughs before signing off.

Red Alert not my greatest role

Sameera Reddy has claimed that she has performed better in other roles than she did in Red Alert: The War Within.

The actress, who plays a rape victim in the movie, said that even though it wasn't the biggest role of her career she still learnt a lot from the part.

"It is not one of [my] best performances because I still feel that Buddhdeb Dasgupta's Kaalpurush is my best role [to] date as an actress," Reddy told Real Bollywood.

"However, [when] all said and done, I want to keep on learning every day as an actress. To get into the skin of my character, I had to do a lot of research. Ananth Mahadevan (Co-director) made me read a few books including Red Sun: Travels In A Naxalite Country written by Sudeep Chakraborty.

"I also made it a point to watch a few documentaries on the Naxalite movement, like Running Out of Time directed by Abhijay Karlekar. I was amazed by what I saw. It was disturbing to know that a whole lot of adivasis were displaced from Jharkhand when coal and steel industries came up."
