Sienna Miller awarded £100k over NOTW hacking

Sienna Miller is to be awarded approximately £100,000 in damages from the News of the World after suing the publication for hacking her phone.

Lawyers for the G.I. Joe actress stated that there had been a full admission of liability from the paper's publisher News International and Miller had been vindicated.

In accepting the settlement that was reportedly first offered to her last month, Miller will discover exactly how her privacy was breached when her legal team attend a private meeting with the paper to hear the "extent of the wrongdoing".

Miller's counsel Hugh Tomlinson QC said: "I make the position clear that Ms Miller is proceeding in this way precisely because Mr Silverleaf indicated yesterday all her claims have been admitted - misuse of private information, breach of confidence, publication of articles derived from voicemail hacking and a course of conduct of harassment over a period of more than 12 months.

"In those circumstances, her primary concern is not how much money is awarded by way of compensation but to know exactly what the extent was of the hacking which took place and, having obtained an order which will enable her to know that - so far as it is knowable - that meets all her requirements from this action."

It is believed that Miller's damages will be finalised and a full judgement on the case will be delivered at London's High Court next Friday.

The News of the World's phone hacking scandal began in 2006 after it emerged that the voicemails of royal aids had been hacked into by the paper's former royal editor.

The revelation prompted the launch of a number of lawsuits by celebrities alleging that they had also been hacked, forcing the newspaper to admit liability in several cases and print a formal apology for its actions last month.

Sienna Miller 'offered £100k over hacking'

Sienna Miller has reportedly been offered £100,000 in compensation by News of the World publisher News International over the phone hacking scandal.

The level of compensation offered to Miller was revealed today at a court hearing in London. The actress is understood to have neither accepted nor rejected the offer, which follows last week's admission of liability by News International in a number of cases of alleged phone hacking.

Miller's former partner, the actor Jude Law, is also expected to launch legal proceedings against the News of the World over claims his phone was hacked.

Police are currently working through 9,200 pages of material seized from Glenn Mulcaire, the private investigator said to be employed by Rupert Murdoch's tabloid to hack into voicemails.

At the hearing in the High Court today, Jason Beer QC, representing the Metropolitan police, said that the number of potential victims could be "substantially" higher than 91 people.

The figure of 91 refers to the total number of pin numbers for mobile phone voicemail inboxes found in possession of Mulcaire, who was convicted of intercepting messages in January 2007.

Beer said: "It is wrong to say that 91 is the answer, that that is the maximum [number of victims], it may be on a bigger scale."

So far, News International is facing lawsuits from 24 high profile figures who believe that their voicemail messages were intercepted by News of the World journalists. However, many more are now expected to come forward to gain compensation from the publishing giant.

Judge Justice Vos said that four phone-hacking test cases - involving Miller, Sky Andrew, Kelly Hoppen and Andy Gray - could be heard as early as December this year. As arguably the most high profile celebrity involved, Miller's case is being widely regarded as the lead case in the scandal.

Miller to Sue Tabloid for Hacking her Mobile Phone

Actress Sienna Miller just confirmed that she will formally file a case against London Tabloid writer Rupert Murdoch who supposedly wrote an article about her private life after a certain detective has hacked her cell phone. Miller was not the first one who became victim of such act.

It turns out that hacking celebrity phone numbers is a trend in Hollywood and she just joined a long line of artists and high-profile figures who have also been victim of the same tabloid, News of the World.

Miller finally decided to take action after she discovered that News of the World’s private investigator Glenn Mulcaire hacked her cell phone primarily to retrieve her voicemails and contact numbers. Mulcaire already had history as he was already jailed for six months on January 2007 also for phone hacking. Fellow actors Chris Tarrant and Steven Coogan were also included in the artists as they claimed that their personal mobile phones have also been hacked.

As for Miller, the actress already had a negative history in another tabloid before as one tabloid published nude pictures of her last 2008. The lawsuit was dropped, however, after undisclosed damages and a written apology was released. Miller is currently working on a project in West Hollywood co-starring Kate Beckinsale.

What is Sienna Miller so pissed off about?

We'll admit it. We have very little interest in why Sienna Miller is at this fashhhsion bash and who that man beside her is (he's actually retail entrepreneur Harold Tillman, in case you wanted to know), but we do find this picture rather amusing.

First of all, it's clear that Sienna's smile is about as real as Jodie Marsh's boobs - and she looks as if she needs a pee really desperately! He is clearly thrilled to be standing next to Sienna, but probably more because she makes him look more tanned than anything else. Then again, he'd make a freshly Ronsealed garden fence look pasty by comparison. Can you think of a better caption than us? Go on! We challenge you!

Romantic, successful and single

Sienna Miller has had a tough time of it lately but the young actress isn’t about to stop herself following her heart if the right man comes along.

'How can anyone's head affect their heart? That's not in my make-up,” confessed Sienna in an interview with GQ magazine.

The boho chick became known as a home wrecker when it emerged last year that she was dating Balthazar Getty, a married father of four and topless photos of her emerged snuggling up to him on a yacht. Now, Sienna has admitted that it “probably looked awful.”

“I probably seem like not a particularly nice person, not a girl's girl,” said the glamorous actress who puts her much criticised actions down to her “rebellious years, the years of self discovery.”

Sienna was previously in a long relationship with actor Jude Law whom she met when he was still married and has also dated Rhys Ifans before falling for Getty.

Whilst Getty has since reconciled with his wife Rosetta, Sienna has made her apologies and is ready to move on and to focus on being known for her acting skills rather than her love affairs.

She is also learning from being single, she said, “Now I'm completely on my own. I think I've grown up a lot.'’

Sienna is currently starring in G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra.
