Aditi Rao Hydari: 'Ali Zafar was my hottest co-star'

Aditi Rao Hydari has revealed that her favourite love interest on screen was Ali Zafar.

The actress has appeared opposite Zafar, Ranbir Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan.

She told Mumbai Mirror: "I strongly feel that if you want the on-screen chemistry to be good, you shouldn't get involved with your co-actors.

"But in this case, I would like to add, 'Never say never'. But yes, my chemistry with Zafar was very good. That's perhaps because I spent the longest time with him."

Hydari will be seen getting intimate with co-star Kapoor in her first leading role in London, Paris, New York.

She said: "I had issues with [the love-making scene]. One, it should be shot aesthetically. Two, it should be done only if it is taking the story forward. Once the director Anu Menon convinced me, I was okay with it.

"As for the film, I am very happy with it. Goldie Behl and Shrishti Arya provided wonderful support. I play a girl who starts off being idealistic but changes with time. I am quite idealistic in real life too."

Last week, Hydari claimed that Bollywood is not the jungle that it is made out to be by the media.

She has previously acted alongside Kapoor in the melodrama Rockstar.

Ali Zafar is a Good Harami: Aditi Rao Hydari

From a character artist in "Delhi 6" to a sexy mother in "Yeh Sali Zindagi", Aditi Rao Hydari is getting younger with her roles. Now she is gearing up for her latest romantic comedy "London, Paris, New York", in which she is seen romancing "naughty" Pakistani singer-actor Ali Zafar.

"I really really think Ali is a good human being but he is very naughty and that is why I say, 'Ali is a good harami', " Aditi told reporters at the first look launch of "London, Paris, New York" here.

Ali, who was also present there, reacted to to this positively and said: "Aditi has given a new tag to me and I will have to live with it forever."

Ali is indeed an all rounder. He is not just the protagonist in the film, he has also sung and composed music for the movie.

"When I write, I am in that phase. When I compose, I am a composer. When I am singing, I am a singer. These are the different roles that I play and I am very convenient stepping into each roles, " he said.

Debutant director Anu Menon's "London, Paris, New York", scheduled to release March 2, is about the journey of Aditi and Ali.

Ali Zafar Wins the Bet, Katrina to Star in Zafar’s Upcoming Video

Ali and Katrina have bonded quite well since they became co-stars in the YRF‘s latest release “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan“. Not just that, Zafar also gave her guitar lessons and the two have bonded musically too.

Zafar wagered with the co-star Katrina that if the movie collects more than 50 crores in the first 2 weeks of hitting the cinemas, she will have to star in the Zafar’s next music video. Katrina humbly accepted the bet and apparently Ali won based on a box office report by Taran Adarsh, an Indian analyst.

Zafar asked the fellow tweeps to vote to decide which song from Jhoom would they like to see Katrina in. However, in an interview with HundistanTimes, he said “if she agrees, I’ll write a new song for her“.

As Ali has recently completed his third studio album, it’s less likely that he’ll make an entirely new song, instead of getting a video done for one of the songs from the Jhoom.

In either case, this is on!

Katrina to star in Ali Zafar's video?

His first film, Tere Bin Laden (2010), was a surprise hit. The second one, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (MBKD), is an expected hit. And Ali Zafar is on a high. “It’s a flying start for me and I’m really grateful that I’ve been so warmly accepted. Now I just have to ensure that the success DOES NOT GO MY HEAD." says the Pakistani pop star turned actor.

Ali's Bollywood debut, which he was partly distributing, was unable to release in Pakistan following a last minute objection. But MBKD has opened well and is on its way to becoming a mega blockbuster there. “Distributors tell me that business is great and friends complain that they’re not getting tickets. I couldn’t be happier,” he jokes.

However, despite its commercial success, the film got the thumbs down from critics. Ali, though, came in for praise for the sincerity he brought to his role, making him the surprise scene-stealer. Admitting that it’s hard to make both critics and the aam janta (common man) smile, he says that he’s relieved that he didn’t go off track with his act. “Now the aim is to grow from an okay actor to a better one with every film I do. Yes, the offers from Bollywood have doubled now, but that’s to be expected. The real challenge is to not get carried away by stardom and choose wisely.”

Ali’s next film is London Paris New York (LPNY) that Fox Studios is making in association with Goldie Behl’s Rose Movies. The directorial debut of Anu Menon, the film has already completed its London schedule that kept Ali away from MBKD’s music launch. “We had an awesome time and I’m looking forward to travelling to New York and Paris now to shoot the movie,” he smiles.

While his latest film paired him with Bollywood’s numero uno heroine, Katrina Kaif, his third outing has him opposite a relative newcomer, Aditi Rao. Is that a deliberate move to ensure that the spotlight remains firmly on him this time? “No, it’s not. LPNY is a coming of age story of two young people who are absolute contrasts and meet for a night at each city. It needed a fresh, new face rather than a top star and Aditi suits the role to a T,” he asserts.

In an earlier interview, he had said that if MBKD gets the kind of box-office numbers he had predicted, Katrina would keep her promise of starring in his video. “Well, I’ve won the bet as far as the first weekend figures go, and going by the way the film is doing, it should touch the next benchmark too. Katrina is shooting in Dublin, I’ll write to her. It’s entirely her decision but if she agrees, I’ll write a new song for her,” says Ali who is writing, composing and giving the playback for his third film.

Another popular Pakistani pop star, Atif Aslam made his debut in Bol recently. Ali, who is Atif’s friend, is happy for him friend that the film has been critically acclaimed everywhere and is a huge hit back home. “I went for the premiere of the film in Pakistan and have been promoting it alongside my own film here and on Twitter. I always look at the big picture and Bol is a film that needs to be seen,” he points out.

Any good offers from Pakistan? “None as yet,” he says. Does this mean that he will be shifting base to India? “I’ve been spending more time here than anywhere else of late anyway,” he points out. “I will go wherever my films take me…Patiala, Paris or London.” Source

Imran, who was present at the event, lauded the 27-year-old actress' guitar skills.

Mere Brother ki Dulhan is a romantic comedy set in the upper-middle stratum of Northern India and has Kush Agnihotri (Imran Khan) looking for an ideal Indian bride for his brother Luv Agnihotri (Ali Zafar) who lives in London.

Zafar plays the role of 30-year-old confused investment banker residing in London. A Casanova at heart, Luv has everything he could ask for, until one day he realises he wants to spend his life with a traditional Indian girl, so he assigns the job of finding a suitable match to his brother Kush.

Kush’s quest comes to end when he finds his brother’s match in Dimple Dixit (Katrina Kaif), and all is going well until Kush ends up falling in love with his brother’s fiance.

According to the details, a poll seeking hottest new face in India was conducted by daily newspaper Times of India. Almost 3 lakhs and 43 thousand people participated in the poll.

Ali Zafar gained popularity in India after the success of his debut movie Tere Bin Laden.

According to the poll results, another debutant Ranveer Singh who played as a leading character in the film "Band Baja Baraat" stood second.

Ali Zafar 'gets closer to Katrina Kaif'

Ali Zafar is said to be developing a close relationship with Mere Brother Ki Dulhan co-star Katrina Kaif.

The 31-year-old actor has reportedly indicated that he is in a relationship with the Tees Maar Khan star, The Times of India claims.

"He's trying too hard to get extra close to her," a source told the newspaper. "She's gullible and doesn't realise that he is portraying that they are more than friends."

The two Hindi film stars are spending increasing amounts of time together on the set of the Yash Raj production, as well as at Zafar's Mumbai residence.

"People on the set have noticed his change in attitude ever since he has gotten close to Kat. He keeps her company and entertains her in between shots. They were also spotted spending some time at his apartment," added the source.

Zafar recently donated his performance fee for Luv Ka The End to charity.

The Lahore-born actor made his debut in the Bollywood film industry in the 2010 terrorism-themed comedy Tere Bin Laden.

Ali Zafar to Co-star Sonu Nigam & Rishi Kapoor in Dhawan’s ‘Chashme Baddoor’

Last year, soon after the release of “Tere Bin Laden“, Ali Zafar auditioned for the remake of Chashme Baddoor to be directed by David Dhawan. After “Tere Bin Laden”, Dhawan was quite impressed by the Zafar’s comic timing and decided to cast him in his upcoming film. February this year, Zafar confirmed signing up for a romantic comedy film. Chashme Baddoor is a classic, directed by Sai Paranjpe in 1981 and is being remade by Dhawan.
Moments ago, we have learnt that the film will also feature Rishi Kapoor, apart from Sonu Nigam, who will play a paanwaala in the remake of ‘Chashme Baddoor’. Rishi Kapoor is known for delivering the best of such comic roles which is why the film is expected to keep you entertained.

The classic Chashme Baddoor is a story of three friends who had a thing for a girl ‘Neha’.

The lady to play Neha has yet to be finalised.

Tara D’Souza to romance Ali Zafar in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan

Meet Tara D’Souza, the second lead in Yash Raj Films‘ next ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan‘. Tara, who is the surprise package in the film features opposite Ali Zafar, and will be seen romancing the Prince of Pop in the film.

The film is a romantic comedy, a very family kind of set-up. Imran Khan and Ali Zafar play brothers. Imran Khan plays a character who falls in love with his brother’s fiancé (Katrina Kaif) whereas Ali Zafar’s character in the movie is supposed to be suave (sophisticated charming gentleman) but funny suave, and a confused playboy, who is a bit confused about what he wants from life. He plays a flamboyant guy, who is a little loud, and is over-the-top.

A reliable source informs, “Tara plays the second lead in the film and will be seen romancing Ali Zafar.”

“It’s a nice glamorous role,” the source reveals about Tara’s role in the film.

Ali has sung three songs for the movie, and will be seen singing and strumming the guitar for his fiancé, and also for Tara, who in fact is also a singer like Ali. Probably she’ll sing a duet with him in the film.

Jhoom in love

KARACHI: Ali Zafar is back with a bang as his third studio album Jhoom hits the stores today. The album brings with it a legacy of its own as it was mixed at the famous Abbey Road Studios and is set to simultaneously release in Pakistan through Alif Records and by YashRaj Music in India.
Aptly chosen to be released on February 14, a day ear marked for PDA (public display of affection) and love in all its forms, the album is all about the happenings of love.

Over sushi, Ali Zafar candidly talked to The Express Tribune about the lesser known side of the South Asian pop icon – about everything that has not already been published before.

Find out how Zafar met his wife, why he chose her to be his wife, who he thinks his son looks like, and of course what his plan for Valentine’s Day are and that’s not all, The Express Tribune goes a mile further speaking to Zafar’s wife, Ayesha as well.

How did you guys meet?
He said: She came to Pearl Continental to get her portrait made; I slipped in my business card.
She returned a couple of days later with a friend wanting another portrait; this time she said she didn’t need the card she already had my number, the rest is history.
She said: We met at a party and then I went with my friend to Pearl Continental where he would sketch because she wanted a portrait made.

How would you rate yourself as a husband?
He said: You should really ask her, 7 I think.
She said: He’s fantastic, he actually listens.

What is the one thing that only she has?
She has me (!)

What annoys her about you?
He said: I wonder what she’ll say? I sing in my sleep?
She said: He leaves his shoes in the middle of the room and I invariably trip on them.

The craziest thing you’ve done for her?
He said: I think it was for her birthday, she thought I had forgotten, I made her go on to the balcony to get something and as she walked out there was this firework display. Come to think of it I’m not very crazy.
She said: He’s very calm and collected. He’s not really a very crazy person but he’s really fond of giving surprises and has given me plenty of surprises over the years. He’s also made a lot of handmade cards for me.

How did you manage a relationship over ten years? How do you cope with the long distance?
He said: It’s all thanks to her. Her patience, her understanding and her giving nature has made this possible.
She said: We always knew we wanted to be with each other and always knew that we would end up together. We spend so much time apart that when we do finally manage to come together we really value each other’s company.

Do you believe in Valentine’s Day?
He said: Yes. What is better than love?
She said: He’s hardly around for any Valentine’s Day. Even this one but once he planned a surprise with my cousin.

Why did you name your son, Azaan?
The Azaan, musically is a perfect melody; it’s serene and spiritual.

How do you want your son to know his father?
She said: I don’t want him to be spoilt or overshadowed by his father’s success and realise that things will not be offered to him on a silver platter.
His father has worked very hard to get where he is and he will have to work just as hard to be someone in this world.

What grounds you?
The conversations I had with the waiters while I worked at Pearl Continental, because of which, for me the chief guest and valets are of equal importance.

You want to be remembered as?
Someone who made a difference, someone who pushed boundaries, someone others want to emulate.

What are your thoughts on Justin Bieber?
I’m glad it worked out for him. His music is not for me though.

Why a record company?
I’m very aware of how trying and difficult my journey has been … the endless waits – be it outside a studio or waiting for a director to call back. It’s only fair to reach out and do what I can to ensure that someone starting their journey today has lesser obstacles.

What’s the craziest fan request?
Having to sign undergarments publicly

Ali Zafar — the husband, the father or the super star?
He said: The father.
She said: The husband.

Not as a superstar?
He’s always been my superstar.

Imran Khan and Ali Zafar 'clash on set'

Imran Khan and Ali Zafar have reportedly fallen out on the set of their new film.

The two actors, who play brothers in upcoming Yash Raj project Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, are not on speaking terms, claims Mid Day.

A source told the newspaper: "Imran is the lead actor in the film. But then he started hearing that Ali was promoting himself as the lead. Not one to react to hearsay, Imran started getting irritated when people close to him also started questioning if he was indeed the lead actor."

Pakistani musician Zafar, who made his debut in the comedy Tere Bin Laden, is said to have let the commercial success of his first project impact his work in the film industry.

"Ali was painting him as an English-speaking actor and promoting himself as a favourite with the masses. Even though he's just one film old, he's been acting like a star while Khan is totally down-to-earth," the source added.

The project, which also stars Katrina Kaif, has been shot across northern India.

The buzz is that recently at an art auction event by Sanjan Nagar held to educate under privileged girls in acquiring advanced education, Ali Zafar was present too.

Ali Zafar To Star In David Dhawan's Next

Pakistani actor Ali Zafar has been very lucky this year as he has been signed by Yash Raj Films after the success of his first Bollywood film Tere Bin Laden.

Even though, the film was not a commercial success but Ali got noticed for his wonderful comic timing in the film. Now, the latest report is that renowned comedy filmmaker David Dhawan is narrating the script of his next film to Ali.

Ali will be playing the second lead in YRF's Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, which stars Katrina Kaif and Imran Khan. David's film is likely to be titled Chasme Badoor and Ali is one of the top contenders to play the lead role in this flick.

The 30-year-actor has been able to grab the attention of many filmmakers with just his debut movie, so one can expect to see him among the Bollywood A-listers very soon. A source was quoted saying that Ali is suitable for romantic roles with his chocolate boy looks. David has reportedly met him in Delhi and narrated the script of his next comedy flick Chasme Badoor.

The actor is now busy shooting for his second Bollywood film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan with Imran and Katrina. He will be flying down to Mumbai sometime next week to finalize the details of the David Dhawan film.

Speaking about the film, Ali said that he has just read the script and loved the script of Chasme Badoor. The actor added that he likes watching David's films and would love to work with him.

However, Dhawan has denied the story saying that it is news for him. So, is it not a mutual admiration? Well, we can just wait to know the truth.

Pakistani singer Ali Zafar serious about Bollywood

Ali Zafar plays Imran Khan's brother in Yash Raj Films' Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. And that's not all. The Pakistani actor-singer who became popular with Tere Bin Laden, has got himself a business manager in Mumbai. He will spend some time in the city. His wife and baby will join him soon and stay on till November.

"After that, I return to Pakistan for a charity concert in aid of flood victims with performances by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Ali Azmat and (Azmat's band) Junoon along side me. But I am very serious about pursuing an acting career in Mumbai, " he admits.

Zafar began shooting last week for Mere Brother Ki Dulhan at Pataudi. Apparently, he agreed to be part of the project only because his role was modified to suit his pop icon stature.

According to sources, when the part was to be played by Riteish Deshmukh, it wasn't as pivotal as the leads played by Khan and Katrina Kaif. When Zafar flew down to Mumbai to discuss his role he "suggested" that the character be modified, thereby turning the film into a full-fledged love triangle.

Apparently, he has also made it clear that he should be as prominently featured in the hoardings, posters and trailers, as his co-stars.

Speaking from Delhi, he says, "An actor always brings his own sensibilities into a project. So yes, the role has been fine-tuned to suit my personality. And there's an understanding between the producers and me about the way I'll be presented. It's all been amicable."

Zafar is clearly determined to not repeat the mistakes of other Pakistani actors who fizzled out after their Bollywood debuts.

Ali Zafar fails to recognise Kat

Actor Ali Zafar who made an impressive Bollywood debut in 'Tere Bin Laden' managed to steal the limelight once again at a party, when he failed to recognise actress Katrina Kaif. It is common knowledge that Ali and Katrina have been signed on for Yash Raj's next film. So, when Katrina spotted her going to be co-star she thought it would be nice if she went up to him and made some polite conversation.

Katrina, was instead, greeted by a blank Ali Zafar. The actress however handled the situation with much aplomb, and gracefully introduced herself. She said, "Yes, this incident did happen. But it's no big deal. Ali Zafar is new. I've been around for about four years, and I still don't know everyone."

The following day, Katrina and Ali Zafar met again at the Yash Raj office. This time it was Ali's time to get embarrassed when Katrina approached him with a 'I hope you recognise me this time' statement. However, all's well between Katrina and Ali and they're both looking forward to shooting for their film.
