Salman Khan: I am giving Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise a chance!

The 7th best looking man in the world says he has maintained a distance from Hollywood as he has his reasons for that.

In a recent event, this bollywood star unleashed his funny side and said in a humorous way, "Me, I am giving Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, all these guys a chance," said Salman. He went on to say that these actors make wonderful movies, and make anything look good! Salman felt that we sort of tend to overdo certain things.

The 46-year-old actor added, “All my friends who have gone to America, they don't even want to come back for a holiday, wonder why. I am an actor, those guys were the 'sensible' ones, educated – engineers, doctors, scientists. These guys went there and made a lot of money, respect.” You are right Sallu bhai! Maybe the lure of foreign shores is high for some people!

Guess, the hollywood heartthrobs can rest assured that they have 1 less hunk to compete with! Source:http://www.galatta.com

Is this hot Romanian TV news presenter Salman's new girl?

While Sallu miya is recuperating, romance must be the last thing on his mind.

But a Romanian magazine has carried a love story between a Romanian TV news presenter Iulia Vantur and Salman.

Ab yeh kya ho gaya.

Iulia claims she met Sallu when she was in Mumbai and claims to be in touch with him. She has posed for the mag in Being Human tees.

Now now, you don't really need to know Sallu to get those T-shirts no?

I see every Ram, Shyam and Harry wearing it these days.

Oh... one good thing. The magazine refers to Salman as the Tom Cruise of India. Giggle. Source: santabanta.com

Salman Khan’s ‘Bodyguard’ breaks all records!

Even as the Dabanng Khan recovers after his eight-hour surgery in Pittsburgh,USA, his film becomes a blockbuster back home

Salman has scored a hattrick this Eid with Bodyguard, as he continues to break his own records which he had set with Dabanng and Ready. Trade analysts have gone on record that as of now, Salman’s the only star who can guarantee such a huge opening at the box office. Last Eid, Dabangg had managed to garner Rs. 14 crore, breaking 3 Idiots’ record of Rs. 13 crore. On its opening day, Bodyguard managed to rake in Rs. 21 crore net (breaking the record set by Dabanng), the highest ever in the history of Bollywood! On the second day (Thursday), the film managed to earn about Rs. 19 crore. Producer Atul Agnihotri expects Bodyguard to cross Rs. 80-85 crore in India by the time the weekend is over. Source

Salman Khan fine after surgery

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who underwent a surgery to treat a nerve condition that has been causing extreme pain in his cheeks and jaw, got operated and is doing fine, said a source.
"Yes, the surgery took place late last night and Salman is fine now. He has just been advised complete bed rest for a few days after which he can start working," a source close to the actor said
The 45-year-old actor was suffering from a medical condition called trigeminal neuralgia and aneurysm for a long time now and when the pain became unbearable, Salman left for the US Aug 29 for treatment.

Salman Khan to be treated for nerve disorder

Actor Salman Khan is heading out to the US next week to treat a nerve disorder he was diagnosed with earlier this month.

Khan, 45, whose ‘Bodyguard’ opens in cinemas next week, will be in the US for treatment after the film's release.

"It's a non-surgical procedure and doctors have told I'll be back to work within four days," Khan told.

The actor had been suffering from pain in his jaw and the condition was recently diagnosed as trigeminal neuralgia.

"It's been happening for the past 4-5 years and just got diagnosed this month," Khan told.

Khan is known for his box-office dominance over the Eid weekend. His biggest hits in the last few years have come during this period, with ‘Dabanng’ being 2010’s blockbuster.

Khan is also scheduled to do a number of big-ticket films, including ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ with Katrina Kaif. With the success of ‘Ready’ in June, he cemented his place as a star who can pretty much guarantee box-office success with his charisma. (Reuters)

Salman Khan to slow down professionally

Speculation about Salman Khan's health has been rife and now the actor's brother Sohail Khan has confirmed that a nerve has been troubling him for a couple of months now and would take it easy professionally for a while.

"It's just a nerve that has been troubling him for a couple of months now. He got some tests done to get it diagnosed. That's it. Nothing more. Now that the problem has been identified, he has been taking medical advice. We're in the process of finding out the best way to treat the problem. Insha Allah, all should be fine," Mid Day quotes Sohail.

Salman Khan, meanwhile would work on only one film at a time.

Sources suggest that Salman Khan was not comfortable shooting for Bodyguard and Ek Tha Tiger simultaneously. He would do Dabangg 2 and Sher Khan one by one.

Also, Salman would start Sajid Nadiadwala's Kick only at the beginning of next year. For now, he would focus on Ek Tha Tiger.

"My movie Sher Khan will now start early next year after Yashraj. Now he'll do one film at a time," Sohail adds.

Considering the actor's dream run at BO, his fans wouldn't mind waiting a little longer for their demigod to light up the screen!

Top-Grossing Bollywood Actors

Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn are the only Bollywood actors whose films have grossed 100 crores (around £14m) at the box office.

3 Idiots, Ghajini, Ready, Dabangg and Golmaal 3 are the only films to have made 100 crores in the domestic market. Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots is the highest grossing Bollywood film of all time. Salman Khan's Dabangg and Ready follow in second and third place.

Devgn is next with Golmaal 3, while his recent release - the critically acclaimed Singham - continues to draw record-breaking audiences.

Trade analyst Vajir Singh told The Times of India: "Going by the extraordinary opening at single screens and a good opening at multiplexes, Singham will cross the 100 crore mark soon."

Speaking of his films' successes, Devgn said: "It feels great to have two films on the list of the biggest earners in Hindi cinema... that too through Golmaal 3 and Singham! It's unreal - much more than what we had hoped for. The flip side is that with great success comes a lot of pressure about your next film.

"Also, the success quotient changes every Friday. Today, it is my day; tomorrow it will be somebody else's. After 20 years of success and failure, it doesn't change or excite me much. Now I just try and make the audience happy. I am sure Salman and Aamir feel the same way."

Aamir, whose hit film 3 Idiots broke all opening day records, commented: "While I am very happy with the monetary success of both films, I have to confess that merely monetary success does not excite me.

"I think that films like Taare Zameen Par, Lagaan, Rang De Basanti and Dhobi Ghat enrich our emotions and have the ability to create a very positive, inspirational, happy and moving impact on us. What excites me is to be part of this life-changing experience for people and society. I thank my directors and writers for that."

Dabangg producer Arbaaz Khan said: "Salman enjoyed doing the films and the right music, action, characters and script worked for the films.

"But the business module is changing today along with a growing number of prints, theatres and multiplexes. What is a benchmark today will change with the economics of the business."

Salman, Katrina team up for 'Bodyguard' item song

Katrina Kaif will do the item song "Aaya re aaya bodyguard" in "Bodyguard" and Salman Khan, who plays the title role in the movie, will match steps with her.

As the song is about Salman's character, so his presence is said to be a must in it. Bodyguard producer Atul Agnihotri confirmed that Salman will be part of the song. Ganesh Acharya will teach him the steps.

"Salman likes to do his own thing in the dance numbers. Everyone knows in 'Munni badnam' he didn't follow Farah Khan's instructions. Katrina will be rigorously rehearsing her steps for 'Aaya re aaya bodyguard'. She wants it to be as perfect as 'Sheila ki jawaani'.

"Salman's improvisations are bound to distract her. But there is not much she can do about it.Because as Salman pointed out the song is about about him, so he has to be part of it," said a source.

Earlier, Salman had made a special appearance in the song "Wallah Re Wallah" in the movie "Tees Maar Khan", which had Katrina and Akshay Kumar as lead pair.

"Bodyguard" is a romantic action film starring Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Directed by Siddique, the film is a remake of the director's 2010 Malayalam film of the same name.

I won't act for Being Human: Salman Khan

The kiddie film Chillar Party already has a great buzz around it and its item number Tai Tai Phiss starring Ranbir Kapoor has also become a favourite with kids. Like any producer, Salman is happy too about his first home production and is looking forward for Chillar Party to hit screens.

The Khan is now looking for some good scripts for SKBH but he says he doesn't plan to act in his home production. Explaining the reason behind such a decision, Salman says, "I don't plan to act in my home productions. But if a good script comes by, may be I will. However, if I act in my home production, my remuneration amount will go to my charity Being Human."

Salman, Ash top online search poll

Ex-couple Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were the most searched celebrities online in the month of May, according to a recent survey.

Salman’s latest film, Ready, was named the most popular movie of the month. He’s also been in the news for his charity work.. He is followed by Shahid Kapoor at number two, Shah Rukh Khan at three, Akshay Kumar at four and Aamir Khan at five. The survey pegged Rai as number one after the announcement of her film Heroine at the Cannes Film Festival. Next in line is Katrina Kaif, followed by Kareena Kapoor. Rounding off the list are Sonam Kapoor at number four, and Zarine Khan at five.

Salman impresses again, 'Ready' grosses Rs.41 crore

Last year it was his rural action-drama "Dabangg" that broke the dry spell at the box office by earning Rs.48.25 crore in the opening weekend, and this year Salman Khan's comedy "Ready" has brought the much needed respite at the box office by grossing Rs.41 crore over the weekend.

Trade pundits, however, admit that "Ready" is not on par with "Dabangg" in terms of content and appeal and many not enjoy a long innings at the box office, but it is an entertaining film and got a good opening.

"Ready has had a good opening. The occupancy has been 90-95 percent. It is more of a family entertainer. One would not see the kind of action that was in 'Dabangg' and 'Wanted'," Yogesh Raizada, corporate head (Cinemas) of Wave Cinemas told IANS.

"Salman is perfect in the film he has done full justice to his character. Asin, is also good in the film," he added.

In contrast to Rs.18 crore "Dabangg", a small town cop drama shot in Wai in Maharashtra and partly in the UAE, "Ready", shot entirely in Thailand, is expensive, has an urban setting and is said to have cost Rs.50 crore.

Released on 1,900 screens, 'Ready' earned Rs.13.5 crore on the opening day, Rs.12.5 crore on Saturday, and Rs.15 crore on Sunday.

"People are enjoying the film a lot, specially Salman Khan, although the shows have not been back-to-back houseful like 'Dabangg' and 'Wanted'. The audis have witnessed 80 percent occupancy," said a source in PVR.

Shot in the exotic locales of Thailand, the film is about happy-go-lucky guy Prem (Salman). He mistakenly helps a girl Sanjana (Asin Thottumkal) escape from marriage and later falls for her. Paresh Rawal, Arya Babbar and Mahesh Manjeraker also feature in it.

Just like Salman's 2008 hit "Wanted", his "Ready" is performing much better in single screen theatres. Confirming this, Piyush Raizada of Delite Cinemas said their shows are going houseful.

"The response to 'Ready' is terrific. Till now, our shows are going housefull. Everyone is appreciating Salman's acting. It is too early to say whether the film will be as big as 'Dabangg' because today, every day counts because of the number of shows being played today," he said.

At a time when most of the big-budgets, with big names like Akshay Kumar starrer "Patiala House", Abhishek Bachchan's "Game" and "Dum Maaro Dum" failed to stir the box office, Salman's magic worked again as "Ready" has brought smiles on the faces of distributors, cinema hall owners and audiences alike.

"I really enjoyed the film. Salman is really good. The first half is a bit boring but the film picks up after the interval and I couldn't stop laughing till the end," said Madhu Verma, a housewife.

College student Priya Chawla liked it so much that she wants to watch it again.

"I found the movie extremely entertaining from the very first scene. Some of the one liners are hilarious and they could become popular pick-up lines. Salman is superb with his comic timing. I plan to watch it again," she said.

Last year too, when the box office was reeling under flops, Salman bailed it out with "Dabangg" and conquered it not only by earning the maximum profits of reportedly Rs.145 crore, but scooped the maximum awards, including a National Award for the best entertainer of the year.

Ritika Sinha, also a college sudent, said the film lacks focus, but has some really good punch lines.

Trade pundits, however, admitted that "Ready" will not enjoy long stay at the box office like "Dabangg".

"The film doesn't seem to sustain for long. We are looking at the occupancy. If it drops down to 50 percent then we will put another film. However, film is doing really well on single screens," said the source from PVR.

Piyush Raizada said: "Gone are the days when films had to run for many days to be declared a hit. Today, in two to three weeks a film is declared a hit."

World premiere of Salman's Ready in Dubai

The world premiere of Salman Khan-starrer Ready will be held in Dubai on June 1.

The Dabangg star will be joined by co-star Asin, on the red carpet of the Grand Cineplex here, followed by an exclusive after-party at a local nightclub, said organisers.

The film also has a Dubai connection as Kubra Sait, a local model, former radio jockey and a TV presenter is making her Bollywood debut with this film.

Ready is a remake of a Telugu film and sees Khan play a romantic at heart whose mission in life is to unite lovers.

He helps Asin escape her own wedding and promptly falls in love with her. The rest of the film sees the couple unite their families into accepting their relationship.

Khan and Asin were earlier in Dubai in 2009 for the world premiere of their film London Dreams.

Yana Gupta splits from Salman Khan?

Yana Gupta is said to have broken up with her boyfriend, Salman Khan.

The divorced actress, who met Khan during the filming of TV show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, reportedly wants to focus on her career in Bollywood, The Times of India states.

A source revealed: "Until the show was on, things were fine and their relationship was cruising, but once it ended it was difficult for them to maintain their relationship. Yana began her second stint with B-town, as offers kept pouring in."

Following an absence from the Indian film industry, the half-Czech model is said to be focusing on a comeback.

"She is very serious about her career and the [couple] hardly got time [together]. This created a lot of differences and, finally, a few days back, they parted ways," the source added.

Gupta will next be seen performing an item song in Chalo Dilli.

Salman launches Ready music

MUMBAI: Salman Khan was adamant about not wanting to launch the music of his latest film Ready at a five star venue.

Earlier there were reports saying that the actor wanted to gift bicycles to some of the key workers/or their children of Mumbai's Filmcity .

Now there is a slight change in plan. Today, the actor will have the music launch of his film Ready at Filmcity with the cast, the crew and all the staff members of this Government of Maharashtra run studio.

Salman's logic is simple. Says a source close to the actor, "Bhai feels these are the guys who have been with him for the last 21 years. And he feels they have supported him unconditionally through his highs and lows.

He just wants to reciprocate their goodwill and so besides giving them a surprise (obviously the actual plan cannot be revealed) he will also have dinner with them post the music launch."

Salman Khan 'tones down love scenes'

Salman Khan has reportedly asked makers of his latest film to make sure love scenes with co-star Sonakshi Sinha are toned down.

The script of the action film Kick is being revised because of the actor's demands, according to Mumbai Mirror.

Khan is also said to be keen on releasing a 3D version of the Telugu film remake.

Speaking to the paper, an insider revealed: "Salman has always been very careful as far as romantic scenes are concerned.

"But with Sonakshi he has to be doubly careful. He treats her like a child. There was almost no physical intimacy between him and Sonakshi in Dabaang."

The 45-year old actor famously mentored the 23-year-old star and cast her in Dabaang, which is one of the highest grossing films in Bollywood history.

Salman-Sonu take on arm-wrestler from LA, defeat him

It looks like all the abstinence from Mughlai food and alcohol is doing Salman Khan a world of good. These days he is in top physical shape, good enough to take on an African-American physical trainer weighing 150 kg for arm-wrestling. And defeating him!

The incident that happened in Vishakhapatnam earlier this month has had a snowballing effect on the Telugu film industry.

Apparently, Salman took on the LA trainer for impromptu arm-wrestling in front of a number of prominent members of the Telugu film industry. This led to this pricey trainer being sent back to Los Angeles.

Sonu Sood, who was with Salman that evening, verifies the incident. "Yes, Salman challenged the guy who trains Telugu doyen Mahesh Babu's two sons Vishnu and Manoj and many other big actors from the Telugu industry. We were at a party in Vizag. It was on the Park hotel's premises. Both Salman and I were trying to have a good time.

"Many prominent stars from Telugu cinema were also present at the bash. Everyone was talking about this huge bulky 150 kg trainer from LA who was also there. They were all talking about how powerful and invincible he was, and how all the leading men from the Telugu film industry were queuing up to work-out with him."

That's when Salman decided to indulge in serious 'masti'.

Says Sonu Sood: "He announced that I'll be taking on the LA trainer for arm-wrestling. I was quite embarrassed. But by then Salman was in full form. He wouldn't take no for an answer.

And the bigwigs of the Telugu film industry were staring at us. There was no smooth surface to arm-wrestle. So I took on the trainer on a rough wall. Though at the end of it my elbows were badly bruised it was surprisingly easy to defeat him."

Encouraged by Sonu Sood's victory Salman then decided he too would arm-wrestle with the trainer.

That's when the big-name gathering from Telugu cinema that evening got keenly interested. They watched with avid interest as Salman arm-wrestled with their star-trainer from the US -- and defeated him.

For a good 20 minutes thereafter there was utter chaos with Salman and Sonu receiving congratulations from the entire congregation.

News spread in Hyderabad like wildfire the next morning that Telugu cinema's favourite trainer, imported all the way from LA, had been defeated by the "Dabangg" duo. And the trainer has now been packed off back to the US.

Chuckles Sonu: "I wouldn't like to comment on what happened to the trainer. But both Salman and I were surprised by how easy it was to defeat a man as heavy and physically-fit as this trainer. We couldn't stop laughing. We celebrated our victory till the morning."

Salman Khan surprises Manjrekar with 'Bodyguard' offer

Salman Khan is known to ask people close to him to do the oddest of things at the oddest hours. It is therefore no surprise to know that he rang up Mahesh Manjrekar recently with an offer that the director-actor couldn't refuse.

"You're in 'Bodyguard," he told Manjrekar, who has been angling to get Salman to listen to his script for a film that he has been meaning to direct with the star in the lead for a year now.

Now Manjrekar has to join the "Bodyguard" team from April 3.

The funniest part of Salman's film offer is that Manjrekar is clueless about what he's supposed to play.

"He hasn't told me what I play in 'Bodyguard'. He has just asked me to join the unit. I don't mind. I never ask him about my role because I know he's asking me with a good role in mind. I think Salman prefers me to be an actor. He keeps offering me roles in his films. I don't get a chance to direct him at all," said Manjrekar who directed films like "Vaastav" and "Astitva".

Ever since Manjrekar appeared as the main villain in "Wanted", Salman considers Manjrekar as his good luck mascot. Even in "Dabangg", he was cast as Sonakshi Sinha's father.

For Anees Bazmi's "Ready" too, Manjrekar was not told what his role was until he arrived on location in Colombo.

"When I landed there I realised I had a positive role in 'Ready'. Thank god, I wasn't playing a lecher. It was becoming tough for my 17-year-old son to explain to his friends why his father was always playing leery characters. Hopefully, in 'Bodyguard' too I'll have a positive role," said Manjrekar.

Salman Khan's 'Kick' to go 3D?

Salman Khan is reportedly keen to make his upcoming project Kick in 3D.

Director Shirish Kunder is currently working on a separate 3D project starring Akshay Kumar and Khan's protege Sonakshi Sinha.Kunder told Hindustan Times: "Yes, there is an intention to dabble with 3D in Kick. I will soon be meeting Salman to discuss the possibility of using it but nothing has been confirmed yet."

The film, which Deepika Padukone was initially attached to, is a remake of a Telugu hit and will feature several "stylised" action sequences.

According to the paper, Rush Hour 3 stuntman Philippe Guegan is to train Khan personally for the role.
