'Bigg Boss' transforms celebrity into common man: Salman Khan

From a comfortable life to a life with limited amenities and entertainment avenues - reality show "Bigg Boss" shows the transition of a celebrity into a common man, says actor Salman Khan, who is hosting the upcoming, sixth season of the show.

"A celebrity goes in and slowly becomes a common man... the whole transition of having a spot boy, a hair dresser, a driver and then being suddenly all alone. For the first few days, you see the celebrity, but then he becomes carefree," Salman, who is hosting the show for the third time, said here.

The new season, set to go on air on Oct 7, will have new features - a fish, a talking parrot and a common man among celebrity contestants. The common man will be chosen on several criteria.

"The common man will have a personality. He will be an achiever. He must have done something good," Salman told.

The 46-year-old says the best thing about "Bigg Boss", where celebrity contestants are locked in a secluded house under camera surveillance for three months, is that it reveals people's true personality.

"I like that eventually everyone's original personality comes out. When people play games, you get carried away. You do things which you never thought you could do, you cross all your thresholds. Many people think that once you go inside and fight with everyone, you might win 'Bigg Boss'. But the fact is that whoever has won 'Bigg Boss' are very dignified people," he said.

According to Salman, everyone enjoys watching controversies and fights, but in limits.

"To an extent everyone likes and enjoys it but when it goes overboard it becomes irritating. At 11 p.m. if someone is shouting, you won't want to watch," he said.

'I don't want to recommend anyone as I don't want to be partial or biased. I also get to know at the last minute,' he said at a press conference. The show has added many new elements to the format like a pet parrot and a fish. Also, common people will also get to be a part of the show.

Salman also clarified that as a host of the show, he doesn't like to intervene but could not help it last season due to the circumstances. 'I felt very bad but I was getting feedback about the show from everywhere.

I am not supposed to intervene, but it had become too much,' he said. Salman also added that even though some of the contestants may try to come into the limelight through controversies, but the winners have always been different.

'The contestants who were in the house thought they would be seen more on the show. But the winners have always been dignified,' he said.

The show, which has earlier been caught in controversy over use of abusive language, has been given the prime time slot of 9 p.m. and it will be suitable for family viewing this time.

Salman says that no matter how much they try to make sure everything is controlled and is apt for family viewing, what goes inside the house cannot be controlled by them.

"I don't know who is going in, so I don't know how they are. If some of them don't get along, it will create a problem. How do you know how they will react in a situation?

"A person will be nice the first few days, but in three months, you get to know how the person actually is and how he thinks. At the most, they (the channel) will remove the bad words, but in the house, we can't say don't say this or do this," he said.

"We can't control anyone. All we can do is not to show it on TV. What you see on TV is very edited, most decent clips are shown," he added. Credit:http://www.santabanta.com

Salman Khan: I am giving Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise a chance!

The 7th best looking man in the world says he has maintained a distance from Hollywood as he has his reasons for that.

In a recent event, this bollywood star unleashed his funny side and said in a humorous way, "Me, I am giving Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, all these guys a chance," said Salman. He went on to say that these actors make wonderful movies, and make anything look good! Salman felt that we sort of tend to overdo certain things.

The 46-year-old actor added, “All my friends who have gone to America, they don't even want to come back for a holiday, wonder why. I am an actor, those guys were the 'sensible' ones, educated – engineers, doctors, scientists. These guys went there and made a lot of money, respect.” You are right Sallu bhai! Maybe the lure of foreign shores is high for some people!

Guess, the hollywood heartthrobs can rest assured that they have 1 less hunk to compete with! Source:http://www.galatta.com

Sanjay out! Salman to host Bigg Boss 6

NEW DELHI: Salman Khan does not need a partner this time. The actor has agreed to host Bigg Boss 6 on his own, reports Mid Day.

Sanjay Dutt who co-hosted the previous season along with Salman would not be a part of the upcoming season.

"Even though Salman is presently shooting in Thailand for a film with Katrina Kaif, the makers have already sounded him about being part of the new season as well. He has agreed to host it. He alone will be the host for the sixth season,” a source told the tabloid.

Madhuri Dixit's Jhalak Dikhla Jaa will go on air before Bigg Boss.

“The dance reality show which has Madhuri Dixit, Karan Johar and Remo Fernandes as judges will go on air first followed by a talent hunt show. Only then will Bigg Boss air," the source added.

Though Sallu's date diary is choc-a-block, the actor would still take out time for the show as his family members are avid watchers of the show

Audi gifts Salman Khan with Q7

Khan, who acted opposite actress Kareena Kapoor in the film, was presented the Audi Q7 car by the Managing Director of Audi India, Michael Perschke.

“How nice that I got a car. I used this car in the movie and now got it as a gift. Audi company is very nice,” said Khan.

The actor was overwhelmed by the gesture and joked that it was nice to have driven the car in the movie and considered himself to be lucky as he now possessed the car in reality.

Salman Khan is back in Bollywood after surgery

Salman Khan was spotted at the Sahar airport in the wee hours of Wednesday as he arrived from Dublin, where he was shooting.

He was ekdum casually attired in track pants and floaters and appeared ekdum tired. Long flight, no?

The actor has been away for over a month, initially for his medical treatment and later for his film shoot.

Along with co-host Sanjay Dutt he will be launching Bigg Boss 5 today at Mehboob Studios. He begins shooting for the reality show over the weekend in Karjat. Welcome back Sallu!

Salman created record at the box office as his last three released films received good responses from the audience and also made good business at the box office.

'Dabangg', 'Ready' and then 'Bodyguard', the style icon of B-town made impressive mark at the box office in recent years.

Hollywood hottie Milla Jovovich wants Salman Khan

Salman Khan's popularity seems to have infected Hollywood too. Actress Milla Jovovich has not only seen the Bollyood star's "Bodyguard", she is also impressed with his sturdy looks and would love to work with him.

"I am really very convinced with the growing affinity of Indian audiences to action films.

Recently I got an opportunity to view 'Bodyguard' of Salman Khan, and I am really amazed with his sturdiest look in the movie and the action scenes played by him," said Jovovich in an e-mail interaction.

"I would love to work with him if given a chance," added the actress who will be seen in "The Three Musketeers", directed by her husband Paul W.S. Anderson.

She loves doing action sequences herself.

"I just love watching beautiful women kick butt. It's so inspiring. You know, as a kid I never got off on seeing big, muscular men with guns.

But women doing martial arts seem very natural," said the 35-year-old, who has films like "The Fifth Element", "Zoolander" and "Resident Evil" series to her credit.

"People love me doing action movies and that's awesome. I am very serious about my career and I still get to do my independent films. I'm very happy," she added.

The film, releasing Oct 14, talks about Porthos, Athos and Aramis who served the king of France as his best musketeers. Source: santabanta.com

After discovering an evil conspiracy to overthrow the king, the musketeers come across a young, aspiring hero, D'Artagnan, and take him under their wing.

Together, the four embark on a mission to bust the plot that not only threatens the crown, but the future of Europe itself.

Shot in 3D, "Three Musketeers" will see Jovovich as Milady de Winter and the actress is quite upbeat about her role.

"For me, one of the most interesting elements about Milady de Winter is that she's this unbelievably modern 17th-century woman.

Imagine how hard it is for a woman to get a leg up today in the corporate world, or any field," said Jovovich.

"She is a woman navigating a man's world when normally women were dependent on their father, son or husband. You couldn't even have your own finances.

She travels unattended to different countries, she is a spy and she is the best at what she does. She doesn't want to marry and have kids and move to the country," she said.

Jovovich says this is a different version of the "Three Musketeers" and that: "It's completely new and people have never seen something like this before… it showcases the new generations of three muskeeters which takes the spirit of the book and imagination and theme with the help of writer and director and the 3D concept."

"Paul really comes with a different concept with this movie and no one has ever done a period movie in 3D and the concept and story suits very much to period gardens, costumes and the nature and back-drop of the movie completely take you to the period's time," she added.

Salman Khan has a Romanian interest

MUMBAI - While Salman Khan is busy shooting for his next film with Katrina Kaif in Dublin, a Romanian magazine has linked him up with a local TV news presenter named Iulia Vantur.

According to the report, Iulia met Salman last year when she came to India for a holiday. She met him through a producer friend. At that time, she was dating her long-time boyfriend Marius Moga. However, she made another trip to India this year after breaking up with Moga. Salman helped her get over the break up and she stayed in touch with him after she returned to her country.

The magazine reveals that Iulia has now adopted an Indian lifestyle. So much so, that she even observes traditional festivals, visits temples and reads the scriptures. Her sense of dressing has also changed, with her wearing the shalwar-kameez and even saris!

Talking to the magazine, she admitted that meeting Salman was a turning point in her life and that the two are very much in touch via IM on their phones. The TV presenter is now planning to make another visit to India after Salman returns from his overseas shoot.

India’s sexiest woman comes to Dublin

Executive producer Aashish Singh said the welcome the crew has already received is “exceptional”.
“We look forward to bringing Ireland to a whole new audience,” he added. Source

Kareena Kapoor high on success after Bodyguard

The Salman Khan-Kareena Kapoor film Bodyguard has broken the record of the Salman-Sonakshi Sinha movie Dabangg in just five days after its release.

Kareena is in seventh heaven. Back in the saddle as the No. 1 Bollywood diva, she says, I have three films on the list of the six highest grossing films in Hindi cinema. Bodyguard, 3-Idiots and Golmaal-3. I'm ecstatic.''

Kareena says Bodyguard has crossed 82 crore in just five days making it a mammoth hit and her biggest one. Trade sources say Bodyguard will not succeed in breaking the 3 Idiots overall record. But of course at this stage everything we speak on the subject is a conjecture.

As for Salman Khan, he is the No. 1 Khan and the No. 1 hero because he has Bodyguard, Dabangg and Ready on the list of the highest grossers. Aamir has 3 Idiots and Ghajini, while Ajay Devgn has Golmaal-3.

Bodyguard smashes all opening records

Bodyguard has emerged a gigantic hit at the box office. The film had an earth-shattering opening day total of Rs. 21.5 core and the moolah has not stopped pouring. The grand total of the 5-day extended weekend stands at an astonishing Rs. 88 crore (Approx).

The film has smashed all previous weekend records. Salman Khan’s 2010 release Dabangg held the record of the best first week collections (81 crore) and now Bodyguard has surpassed that number in just five days. In the next two days, the film is tipped to cross the magical 100 crore figure as well.

Bodyguard has heft behind the other biggies in terms of figures by quite a margin. The films which have gone down the ladder of record first week are Dabangg (81 crore), 3 Idiots (80 crore), Ready (68 crore) and Ghajini (64 crore). With Bodyguard passing the 100 crore mark, Salman Khan has consolidated his numero uno position at the box office.

Trade analysts have gone on record that as of now, Salman’s the only star who can guarantee such a huge opening at the box office. Last Eid, Dabangg had managed to garner Rs. 14 crore, breaking 3 Idiots’ record of Rs. 13 crore. On its opening day, Bodyguard managed to rake in Rs. 21 crore net (breaking the record set by Dabanng), the highest ever in the history of Bollywood! On the second day (Thursday), the film managed to earn about Rs. 19 crore. Producer Atul Agnihotri expects Bodyguard to cross Rs. 80-85 crore in India by the time the weekend is over. Source

Salman Khan to be treated for nerve disorder

Actor Salman Khan is heading out to the US next week to treat a nerve disorder he was diagnosed with earlier this month.

Khan, 45, whose ‘Bodyguard’ opens in cinemas next week, will be in the US for treatment after the film's release.

"It's a non-surgical procedure and doctors have told I'll be back to work within four days," Khan told.

The actor had been suffering from pain in his jaw and the condition was recently diagnosed as trigeminal neuralgia.

"It's been happening for the past 4-5 years and just got diagnosed this month," Khan told.

Khan is known for his box-office dominance over the Eid weekend. His biggest hits in the last few years have come during this period, with ‘Dabanng’ being 2010’s blockbuster.

Khan is also scheduled to do a number of big-ticket films, including ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ with Katrina Kaif. With the success of ‘Ready’ in June, he cemented his place as a star who can pretty much guarantee box-office success with his charisma. (Reuters)

Salman is suffering from trigeminal neuralgia and aneurysm

Salman Khan leaves Saturday for the US for treatment of a medical condition that causes him unbearable pain in the head, jaws and cheeks.

Amdist pain Salman wrapped up his commitments to promote his forthcoming film "Bodyguard".

"Though he is suffering from severe pain, he finished off his interviews scheduled till last night. He is leaving for the US Aug 27 for the treatment," a source from the unit of "Bodyguard" told.

He would miss Ganesh Chaturthi, Eid and the release of his film "Bodyguard", which is hitting screens Aug 31.

Salman disclosed to media that the he had the first attack of pain in the left side of his face during the making of his film "Partner" (2007) and the pain came back while he was shooting for "Veer" (2010). He is suffering from this pain continuously since last year.

Salman Khan to slow down professionally

Speculation about Salman Khan's health has been rife and now the actor's brother Sohail Khan has confirmed that a nerve has been troubling him for a couple of months now and would take it easy professionally for a while.

"It's just a nerve that has been troubling him for a couple of months now. He got some tests done to get it diagnosed. That's it. Nothing more. Now that the problem has been identified, he has been taking medical advice. We're in the process of finding out the best way to treat the problem. Insha Allah, all should be fine," Mid Day quotes Sohail.

Salman Khan, meanwhile would work on only one film at a time.

Sources suggest that Salman Khan was not comfortable shooting for Bodyguard and Ek Tha Tiger simultaneously. He would do Dabangg 2 and Sher Khan one by one.

Also, Salman would start Sajid Nadiadwala's Kick only at the beginning of next year. For now, he would focus on Ek Tha Tiger.

"My movie Sher Khan will now start early next year after Yashraj. Now he'll do one film at a time," Sohail adds.

Considering the actor's dream run at BO, his fans wouldn't mind waiting a little longer for their demigod to light up the screen!

Salman Khan donates 100,000 bricks to Sikh temple

Salman Khan has donated more than 100,000 bricks to help build a new wing for a Sikh temple.

The actor made the charitable donation while filming in Patiala for his upcoming release Bodyguard.

Producer Atul Aghnihotri said: "Around the commando training school where we shot, people have strong faith in the gurdwara. So all of us, including Salman, visited the holy spot on the first day, and went back to seek blessings on the last day."

The authorities at the temple planned to construct community rooms for worshippers.

"All of us, including Salman, decided to donate 100,000 bricks, to construct the rooms," added Aghnihotri.

The actor's co-star Kareena Kapoor will be visiting the UK this week to promote the film.

Bodyguard opens in theatres on August 31.

Top-Grossing Bollywood Actors

Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn are the only Bollywood actors whose films have grossed 100 crores (around £14m) at the box office.

3 Idiots, Ghajini, Ready, Dabangg and Golmaal 3 are the only films to have made 100 crores in the domestic market. Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots is the highest grossing Bollywood film of all time. Salman Khan's Dabangg and Ready follow in second and third place.

Devgn is next with Golmaal 3, while his recent release - the critically acclaimed Singham - continues to draw record-breaking audiences.

Trade analyst Vajir Singh told The Times of India: "Going by the extraordinary opening at single screens and a good opening at multiplexes, Singham will cross the 100 crore mark soon."

Speaking of his films' successes, Devgn said: "It feels great to have two films on the list of the biggest earners in Hindi cinema... that too through Golmaal 3 and Singham! It's unreal - much more than what we had hoped for. The flip side is that with great success comes a lot of pressure about your next film.

"Also, the success quotient changes every Friday. Today, it is my day; tomorrow it will be somebody else's. After 20 years of success and failure, it doesn't change or excite me much. Now I just try and make the audience happy. I am sure Salman and Aamir feel the same way."

Aamir, whose hit film 3 Idiots broke all opening day records, commented: "While I am very happy with the monetary success of both films, I have to confess that merely monetary success does not excite me.

"I think that films like Taare Zameen Par, Lagaan, Rang De Basanti and Dhobi Ghat enrich our emotions and have the ability to create a very positive, inspirational, happy and moving impact on us. What excites me is to be part of this life-changing experience for people and society. I thank my directors and writers for that."

Dabangg producer Arbaaz Khan said: "Salman enjoyed doing the films and the right music, action, characters and script worked for the films.

"But the business module is changing today along with a growing number of prints, theatres and multiplexes. What is a benchmark today will change with the economics of the business."

Shahrukh and Salman to face off at box office

Competition between Bollywood movies released on the same day is nothing new, but this time the completion will be between movies released on different dates. Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan will face off against each other at the box office as the two release their upcoming movies Bodyguard and Don 2.

Salman Khan's 'Bodyguard' is scheduled for release on August 31 and after the success of Dabaang and Ready he will aim to conquer the box office once again. But this time the number one spot will not be easy to achieve as 'Don 2' starring Shahrukh Khan will be released on December 23. Both movies are action thrillers and have heavy expectations pinned to them.

The release of two movies will decide which of the two Khan's will end up being Bollywood's leading man. The two are known not to like each other and on several occasions have made their feud public.
